BWT Combi Care Replacement Cartridges for Polyphosphate Scale Inhibitor AC002400

Bought as a first replacement of an inhibitor cartridge installed in our new-build home a year ago. Instructions for replacement were clear and all done in a matter of minutes. Surprised how tightly the old cartridge was fixed into the holder - took a fair amount of effort to release - but guess that's a good thing. Evident that the cartridge does do something having cut the old one open to take a look inside just for the sake of curiosity. A cheap fix at £30 and I would say a necessary one. As an aside, was quoted over £100 to do this job by my boiler / heating system engineer. Not included in his price for our boiler / hot water system service as it was linked to the cold feed system.

Difficult to rate really as what it does is invisible. It was a replacement for an existing one that I'd had attached to my boiler for years before the guy who services the boiler told me that it was supposed to be changed every year!! I got a friend to fit it but it was so easy I could actually have done it myself. The price was reasonable enough that I will change it annually now I know that I should do.

This was a replacement for an existing cartridge. The cartridge was delivered on time and easy to replace. Therefore I was pleased with the service and the product.Note that this is the second time I have purchased this product (having bought the first one 12 months ago)t. This coincides with the yearly recommended cycle for replacing the cartridge. Replacing the cartridge is slightly fiddly but otherwise straight forward if you have done it before or simply follow the instructions supplied. It is meant to protect the boiler from scale - so far so good as I haven't experienced any issues with the boiler - although I am not sure if this would have occurred anyway. I just wish the product was cheaper but this was the cheapest I could find so it is the going rate and I cannot penalise the product supplier because of this.

I've been in my flat for 16 years. It had this system installed from new and I have watched the price of cartridges go up and up. Still, I'm in a hard water area and it seems to work.

Pretty much straight forward to fit so long as you have the pipe work in place already - may need to clear pipes if the previous can has been there longer than it should

You need these fitted by a professional but replacing them every year is a doodle. I don’t have a combo boiler so is a sort of poor man’s water softener. I think it helps until we can afford a proper softener.
