The best 49 pages for new colorists in one spot
I just started with my coloring hobby, but so far, this book is the best. Even with all of the coloring resources on the web, & all the You Tube how to 's, this book has excellent, simple, step by step techniques & how to's. Includes techniques & for both graphite & colored pencils. Nice to have all in one book. Colored & B&W illustrations give many great ideas too - even one on for Zentangle shading. The best 49 pages for new colorists in one spot.

A good "colouring" book rather than a "drawing" book
This book has a good overview of materials and different techniques for shading and colouring. My major complaint: I wasn't expecting her to always use stamped or printed images instead of original drawings. Once I was able to get past that, I learned a lot and realized I will be able to apply her techniques to original art. On the positive side, this book is inclusive for people who don't feel comfortable drawing, but who still want to create (eg art cards, scrap booking etc.)A comment for Amazon: this book was shipped separately from the other books in my order. This is a thin, soft-covered book which was shipped in a soft padded envelope. It was badly bent when it arrived, and the spine was broken in 3 places. Amazon was excellent about exchanging it for a new one......which was also sent in a soft envelope.... This time the spine was only cracked once and the rest of the book was unharmed, so I just decided to keep it. A stiff piece of cardboard in the package would have done wonders.

Good for a beginner
I haven't done all the projects. I ordered a set of Tombow colored pencils so I could follow the colour instructions exactly and they have not arrived yet. However, this looks like it will be quite useful to me as I have no art training or skill at all.

Chock full of creative basics and ways to play with different types of pencils.
This has to be one of my favourite How To drawing books. It covers the basics on sketching, shading techniques, colour theory and includes some truly unique projects.Go for it! There is a lot of information included in this relatively small book.
