My old "instant read" thermometer is getting ready for the battery to die, and I figured I'd get a replacement to get me through until I could order a battery and install it. Saw this one and thought, hey, it will do the job. Well, to my surprise, it's now my go to thermometer for multiple reasons. First... the read out. It's easy to read, AND this baby reacts to gravity! Yep, you heard that right, if you stick it straight down into something, the display is where you'd expect it on any instant read thermometer. Stick it into something sideways, and the display changes so that it's displayed up and down in a readable fashion. Stick it in upside down and the display again moves so that you can read it perfectly without trying to sprain you neck or stand on your head! NEVER saw that in any thermometer before and I simply LOVE that feature! Second...this one got me excited. When I unpacked it I thought to myself "it's a shame they can't make a rechargeable instant read thermometer!" and then I started to laugh... it seems they not only can, but this is USB chargeable, so NO MORE REPLACING BATTERIES! No more need for a standby thermometer while waiting for a new battery to arrive, no more pulling out the battery only to have the guts of the gadget come out with the battery and it never works again (been there, done that). Just plug it into a USB charger and you're off and running. Third... it has a built in magnet in the back, so now I can use my thermometer, then just stick it back on the front of my stove, ready for the next usage, instead of rummaging through drawers, to looking all over my countertops to find where I left it. Now, it won't stick to my refrigerator, it slides down the side of it, but it stick perfectly to the front of my stove next to my burner controls, so it's always easy to find and right where I need it! And fourth... I'm a big tea drinker, and I often drink green teas. Now, many don't know this, but you don't use boiling water for green tea, it turns it bitter. The perfect temperatures for green tea is between 159 and 165 degrees F for that perfect cup of delicious green tea. And with the large top on this thermometer it's super easy to stick into my tea pot to measure the water temperature WITHOUT steaming my fingers! I really REALLY like this ChefsTemp Pocket Pro, it does the job very well AND goes above and beyond my expectations for an instant read thermometer. Two thumbs up on this one, and if I had more thumbs I'd give it those as well. For me, it's worth the price!

This digital kitchen thermometer is easy to use, straightforward. I would say the best feature is how quickly it adjusts/reacts to temperature changes. It's almost instantaneous. You put it in meat, and it immediately shows the temp, you take it out and it drops fast. Its so quick, which is a helpful feature because you don't want to insert it and have to hold it there while the thermometer gets to temp. This one gets to temp super quick and stabilizes. Really appreciate this feature! Its well designed. The buttons work fine, the small features like how the display rotates and how you can even lock the display are small details, and they included them. The other feature is self turn-off when it is below 102 F AND hasn't seen temperature changes in 15 minutes - smart idea, smart way to design the power off mode. Well designed and made. I like the fact that its USB-C rechargeable, so you don't have to find batteries when it gets low. The temperature accuracy is spot on, I found it to be less than 2 deg F. (and I was comparing to my other digital thermometer which could also be off by 2 deg). I am completely OK with 2 deg F in temperature, and I think this is even less. It's all around a good product.

The ChefsTemp Pocket Pro Digital Instant Read Thermometer with Magnet for Kitchen, Food Cooking passed the boiling water temperature test! I make candy during the holidays and need a thermometer that provides accurate readings to ensure great candy. I also want accuracy when it comes to meat and deep fried foods. As to the design, the thermometer readout could be larger and bolder. A bold readout would help during grilling in the bright sun or working over a steamy pot, but the backlight option is helpful. The rotating orientation of the readout is very helpful, especially when using sideways on meat on the grill! The plastic sleeve helps protect the probe but the magnet is weak—perhaps the back should be flat instead of rounded, as sometimes the thermometer slides down from its spot on the refrigerator. A real plus is being able to recharge it. No more dead batteries when you are ready to use it—just keep it charged! Overall, I’m looking for accuracy, and so far, this thermometer provides that.

I don’t need to use this type of thermometer very often and haven’t had a chance to actually try it yet. The piece the thermometer slides into is very loose so if it got moved around in a drawer a bunch it would easily come off. Does feel a bit cheap but I’m sure it would do the job.

I really like this thermometer, the probe is thin so it's not going to gouge your protein and cause the moisture to drain from it excessively like the old school analog gauges used to. And the display is nice and bright, the characters are easy to read. The magnet in the back keeps it nestled between my stove top knobs ready for use, but the included sleeve with pocket clip is nice for someone that might be grilling outside and want to keep it on them. I've been using it for over a month almost daily, and it's still got two bars on the battery indicator so that's great for anyone worried about the runtime. With it being USB-C, half my new kitchen gadgets charge over USB-C so it's nice to have a universal standard for things like this if I do need to top it up every once in a while. I'll probably order a few of these as Christmas gifts for the rest of the family.

This is a very quick and responsive thermometer. I can move it from steak to steak and get a quick reading without having to wait for the thermometer to adjust to the new temperature that it has been thrust into. The design of the body fits in the pen/thermometer slot on my chef jacket sleeve for quick and easy access which is something I can't do with the wide household food thermometers. But like those I could attach it to a metal surface through the magnet if needed, but I prefer it on my jacket. A convenient plus for this thermometer is the bright display with large digits so I can quickly and readily get a reading on my food and liquid temperatures. But I'm really happy that I don't have to keep a supply of flat coin batteries any more for my cheap thermometers as this can be charged with a USB C cable.

This is a great, simple to use, digital thermometer. The large display automatically ROTATES to four different viewing angles during use. Or, with a few button presses, you can have it stick to one orientation, if you wish. Depending on your ambient lighting conditions, however, it may sometimes be a little difficult to see the numbers clearly, because the digits are a bit on the skinny side. This is where the backlight helps immensely. A single press of the Backlight button will turn it on for 15 seconds, after which it will turn itself off automatically, to save the battery charge. Just plug-in the thermometer with the included cable to fully recharge it at any time. A separate button easily switches the display from Fahrenheit to Celsius, and back again, as you prefer. And, it’s even MAGNETIC (although a little weak), so it will stick to your refrigerator or oven, for handy access at all times! The best part, is that it is waterproof to IP66, so it can be easily washed after use.
