The Art of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Hardcover – June 18, 2024

Huge fan of the insomniac universe, so I had to pick this up while I could. I have a ton of small shelves so I was honestly shocked at how big this was compared to my other relatively small art books. Not a complaint, though, and it's packed with a ton of concepts and info about what went into this game, and it's such a great book to study. Incredibly satisfied with this, definitely coming back to get the art books for the previous games.

Loved the game and all the symbiote related art, so this was definitely a no brainer purchase for me. The book is extremely high quality with the textured hardcover and portfolio case. I think 265 pages is a healthy offering given the size and scope of the game.As an environment artist, I was happy to see a healthy balance between environment concept art, props concept art and character concept art. There is plenty of high quality reference and inspiration material here.Regarding symbiote concept art, there is plenty of it in the second half of the book that will make many venom and symbiote storyline fans happy.A few things I would’ve liked to see:- a kickstand for the portfolio as I’d love to display that artwork without propping it up to something- larger size concept art for certain story beats. Certain boss battle artwork felt a bit small compared to other set pieces in the bookOverall, very satisfied with the purchase and it’s definitely recommended for and Spider-Man, PlayStation or Insomniac Games fans.I would wait and try to grab this on a discount as $100 can be a bit pricey, even for the deluxe edition.

Not anything substantial - some great artwork that ultimately represents the immense amount of cut content from the game. There’s a frustrating amount of pages spent on designer suits but the anti-venom suit is hardly discussed, featured on one page. This is a notable downgrade from the first two art books of the series. It’s ultimately not worth the asking price.
