I play poker with some guys who take forever to decide (and finish their yappy story telling). I got this to put a little pressure on them to act. I don't use it for every play, but when someone asks for time, they get 2 minutes and then are checked or folded.It works well and has a loud beep. You twist it to set the time, and then press a button each time you want a countdown for that time (short beep when it sets, continuous beep until you hit reset when time is up). It saves the last time set until it eventually powers itself off (a minute or 2 of idle time, then you need to reset it).It also makes a fine dealer button just to show where play is, etc. I would like it to come with a small instruction manual, but it only took me a few minutes to figure it all out.To be clear, it's just a good general purpose digital countdown timer. You can use it for any game, a pomodoro timer for your desk, a cooking timer, etc.
