Crimestopper SP-101 Car Security Alarm & Keyless Entry System with (4) Car Power Door Lock Actuator Motors

I bought this cheapo alarm to install in my 99 f150 since the door lock actuators were bad (ford has a problem with them) I used them and now my locks work. Alarm is very basic but very functional. I love it because of its user installation simplicity. If your confused on how to install an alarm on your vehicle, youtube it and im sure you will find out how to install it.

After calling around to Jeep dealers about putting remote entry for our new jeep and being told it can't be done, how wrong they were as this product got installed and works great. I bought 2, one for our jeep and one for my granddaughters car. So far no flaws.

I wanted keyless entry for my 1984 Mercedes G-Wagon and thought this would do the trick. I really did not care much about the alarm but I did want keyless entry. Others have talked about the need for a relay (or two) to make the actuators work properly and that was the case for me. I opted for the Install Essentials 451M Door Lock Relay Module because it has two relays in one and was easy to install. I also had to run wires to each door because I did not have existing power locks. I used the 6 SPOOLS 100' Feet 16 GA Gauge AWG Primary Remote Wire Auto Power Cable Stranded form Amazon as well. My door panels were off being recovered and the interior was removed so installation was easy.Pluses:* It worked on my old locks. I was worried because they were hard to turn with the key, but a little lubrication and the actuators worked fine.* The range on the dongle is very good!* The included horn for the alarm is nice* Programming options are pretty good.Minuses:* It should have a separate dome light option. I had to design a circuit with a relay and diode to have the done light come on without setting off the alarm.* The dongle is far to easy to set off. It locks the car all the time when just putting it into my pocket.

This is for the CrimeStopper SP-101 model.While I know that its a low end unit, it should at least provide basic security. As others have mentioned in the reviews here, the unit tends to lock and unlock itself randomly. Although I read the reviews, it seems as though others have had good luck with this unit. I guess I'm not one of them.After installing it and programming in the options I was quite happy and the unit performed as expected. However after coming home from work I noticed that my vehicle was disarmed and the doors were unlocked. I didnt think much of it at first as it could of been me forgetting to arm it. So then for the next few days before leaving for work, I would check to make sure the doors were locked and the LED was flashing in lock mode. Then each day after returning home from work, I would go and check if it was still armed and the doors were locked each time they werent. What a horrible product, totally defeats its own purpose.I started troubleshooting by disabling some of the features and removing the parking light flash connection and dome light just to eliminate these as being the problem. It made no difference. I called CrimsStopper tech support and they mentioned that this has happened to others on occasion and that its most likely due to interference. The suggested that I try parking in a different location or moving the main unit to a different spot in my vehicle. I tried this as well and same problem. Called them back and they said the only other option would be to upgrade to the SP-202 model which doesnt have this problem. Ugh. What good is a alarm system if it disarms itself? Crazy.Anyway, you've been warned. Stay away from this model unless you dont care about leaving your vehicle unlocked.

I didn't realize when I ordered it that it does not come with the wire harness for the actuators. Also, most 4 door lock kits come with one or two master actuators for the front doors and the actuators for the rear doors are slave actuators. This is important because the manual switch on the door panel send a signal to the master actuator that either the door is locking or unlocking and then send the corresponding signal to the other actuators to do the same. Without this, there is no way to lock or unlock the doors manually without a keyless entry remote. I should have looked closer at what I was buying. I will say that I have used ONLY Crimestopper kits for a number of years now and have had nothing but great success with them. The SP-101 kit is great but beware of the actuators and lack of wiring.

This is not a complete install kit. You still need to purchase relays to hook up the door locks along with extra wiring and connectors. Probably a good buy for someone with an install bay at a shop but not for the casual installer in your home.

Compre la alarma hace unos dias, la instale yo y fue relativamente facil. Hasta ahora cumple con mis expectativas. Solo tuve que comprar 3 relay para poderla instalar como dice el manual. La re programación es fácil y la puedes adaptar a tus necesidades. Los me gustaron muchos los remotos por que son pequeños. Por el precio es una excelente alarma.
