This soundtrack to the critically acclaimed movie is an emotional experience, and triggers vivid recollections to the movie, as I can visualize every scene depicted by the music. Yes, this is how soundtracks are supposed to work, but it's especially true for this movie, because the images are powerful, as well as the acting performances. The soundtrack starts with LAURENS, IOWA, a piece that has a Twin Peaks tone to it. My personal favorite is LAURENS WALKING, which I think brings out the whole Midwest/Great Plains feel. Of course, ALVIN'S THEME is great, and has some nice changes to it. The majority of the tracks have acoustic instrumentation, which gives it an organic sound. Overall, this is an essential recording from Lynch staple Angelo Badalamenti. Not to be missed.

Yes, really different! Different, as in, not what I expected from Angelo Badalementi. While sitting in the theater watching the movie, my wife and I were completely overwhelmed as the music engulfed us and took us into the story. As we were sitting there, enjoying the film, we knew immediately that we had to have the soundtrack.Several months have passed since then and we know that we'll always enjoy listening to these wonderful pieces. They bring back the quiet serenity and depth of the film every time. The CD has everything on it that we wished for, and more.Angelo Badalementi used very fine melodic accentuation in this music. For instance, the quiet guitar medley in "Rose's Theme", very simple and yet stirring with emotion. Or the gentle, country or folk style violin strokes in "Laurens Walking". An absolute masterpiece of thematic programming. Thank you, Mr. Badalementi! Keep it up!

Please improve your shipping containers. The CD appears to be in OK condition, but the plastic case is cracked in multiple places and one of the little tabs connecting the flip top to the base is broken off. A cardboard mailer with bubble wrap around the CD would work much better than a soft mailer.

Interesting movie even though it is a little slow. However, when you find out that it's a true story, that makes it all the more amazing. The very best part about the movie is the music. That's why I bought this soundtrack. It is amazing. The most peaceful thing you've ever heard. So soothing. I noticed the music when I was watching the movie. I'm glad I bought this. I put it on the CD player at a very low volume when I go to bed. It just lulls you to sleep with such a peaceful, calm feeling. Very de-stressing! I'm so glad I purchased this. I'm going to look for some more music by this same composer.

Sometimes the music tells the story. The Straight Story is a very well crafted movie. It’s a quiet and subtle movie, with limited dialogue. The film lends itself strongly to the music. I like those films the best! The music is very moving. It defines a love for a sibling. Alvin Straight desires and yearns to be with his brother. The music theme I call the ‘love theme’ truly moves me. Just a guitar, sometimes ‘less’ is ‘more’.

After hearing Mulholland drive, and reviewing it earlier, this is switch to a more peaceful, sunny, world. I love many forms of music and Angelo Badalamenti seems to have the touch for almost anything. This soundtrack is rural America or just plain backroads in its lovely and peaceful soundscape. It is a journey across and through the world of hope, sadness, and redemption. This is what I felt with this score as well as in the wonderful movie. Again, David Lynch is a man who can bring so many different moods into film, and Angelo is is muscial guide. Enjoy the tour through the fields and backroads! It is inspirational.

I loved the movie. It is a good Socratic story and the main character with his WWII background reminded me of my dad. In fact, I watched it with him and he was in tears at the revelation in the bar scene. He is gone now but this music brings fond memories. The music is soothing and relaxing. It is a peaceful retreat. I would suggest both.

Seine Tochter lebt mit ihm und in ihrer eigenen Welt ...Da erreicht ihn die Nachricht, dass sein Bruder Lionel schwer erkrankt ist und im Krankenhaus liegt. 10 Jahre ist es her, dass sie sich gestritten hatten. Der alte Mann muss zu ihm ... aber wie? Autofahren kann er nicht mehr, die Hüften sind kaputt. So kommt er auf die Idee, auf einen Rasenmähertraktor vom Süden in den Norden zu fahren. Seine Freunde schütteln die Köpfe, seine Tochter versucht ihn umzustimmen. Aber als er ihr seine Beweggründe sagt, versteht sie ihn als einzige. So zimmert er sich einen Anhänger für den Traktor, füllt ihn mit Esswaren und Decken zum schlafen und fährt los .... tuckert los, muss man eher sagen. Was er unterwegs erlebt, welche Menschen er trifft und ob er am Ende wohlbehalten bei seinem Bruder ankommt und was der dann sagt ... dass verrate ich hier nicht. Ein Film über die Menschen und ihre Schicksale und über die Liebe zu den Menschen und wie man über sich hinaus wachsen kann, wenn man nur eine Idee und einen Willen hat.

El compositor Angelo Badalamenti realizo uno de sus mejores trabajos en esta banda sonora de la película "The Straight Story", una más a la lista de colaboraciones con el director David Lynch.Ambos trabajos, tanto el filme como la música, se salen de los parámetros habituales de sus colaboraciones, que por lo general son bastante obscuras. Aquí ambas brillan por su sencillez y belleza. Badalamenti hace un trabajo excelente con esa música con sabor a country, a la Norteamérica rural, en la cual nos lleva a lo largo del camino recorrido por su protagonista, Alvin Straight. La música tiene una atmósfera muy melancólica.Este CD es bastante disfrutable de principio a fin por lo cual puede usarse de fondo cuando quieras relajarte o mientras realizas alguna otra actividad, como leer por ejemplo. Mis tracks favoritos, y por ende, los que recomiendo son "Nostalgia", "Alvin's Straight Theme", "Rose Theme (Variation)", "Crystal", "Final Miles" y "Country Waltz".La presentación es muy básica, como en muchos soundtracks disponibles en el mercado, pero eso sale sobrando cuando tienes música con este nivel de calidad. Sin duda, ¡¡¡se lleva 5 estrellas de calificación!!!Recomendable para todos los fans de las colaboraciones entre David Lynch y Angelo Badalamenti, y para todo melómano o coleccionista de bandas sonoras. ¡¡¡100 % Recomendable!!!

If you saw the movie, I am sure you will love the soundtrack. It was haunting for me, and simple. I love the music any time of the day and it really is a gem of a soundtrack. I hope you enjoy it as I did.

C'est l'histoire incroyable mais réelle d'Alvin Straight, un vieil homme américain qui, apprenant les ennuis de santé de son frère aîné, décide de parcourir sur près de 600km une partie de l'Amérique du Middle West à l'aide de sa tondeuse à gazon afin de revoir son grand frère avec lequel il est fâché depuis déjà 10 années...Si vous n'aimez que les films d'action, les thrillers, etc. passez votre chemin, ce film n'est pas pour vous...mais peut-être malgré tout serez-vous tenté d'écouter sa B.O. ?Comme pour chacun de ses films, David Lynch, qui est également un musicien à ses heures, fit à nouveau appel à son complice Angelo Badalamenti, son compositeur habituel. pour créer la musique de la B.O. de "The Straight Story" .Et voici ce que déclara Angelo Badalamenti dans une interview aux Cahiers du Cinéma, au sujet de la musique qu'il composa pour ce long métrage : "Face à The Straight Story, on éprouve le sentiment que les choses doivent posséder un caractère direct, beau, émouvant, simple, mais jamais niais...Il fallait que l'on soit ému par le personnage de Rose (Sissy SPACEK), et par la profonde sagesse d'Alvin (Richard FARNSWORTH ), par la forme d'amour qu'ils manifestent, la forme la plus évoluée, l'affection fraternelle.
