The Shuweiuk Non-Contact Voltage Tester applicable for electricians, maintenance, service, safety personnel can quickly test for energized circuits and defective grounds on the factory floor, in the shop. Non-contact test. Breakpoint detect. Test range: 90V-1000V AC. Power supply: 2 x 1.5V AAA battery (Battery Not Included) Product size: 5.83" x 0.67 "x 1" Product weight: about 0.8oz (without battery) Package includes: 1 * Shuweiuk Non-Contact Voltage Tester How to use: 1. Install the battery, press the switch in the middle. Green LED of tester tip lights, tester is ready to work. Press the switch again, LED is on; press one more time, LED is off. Press for two seconds, tester sounds DD, then turn off. When no electric field signal is detected, tester is with green LED, it will automatically turn off in 5 minutes. 2. When detect voltage, tester tip sounds with red LED; when electric field becomes stronger, tester is with faster sound. Even the zero line and wire line are close, it is easy to distinguish. 3. Detect radiation intensity of electric field. When detect radiation, tester tip LED changes from green to red, and sounds 4. Breakpoint detect: two sides of the breakpoint have different radiation intensity, the difference can make tester emit different frequency sound. With obvious sound difference, user can find the breakpoint location. (Prerequisite: the line with breakpoint must be located on wire line, test along the surface of the line.) Instrument maintenance: The tester is with high resistance and safe insulation. Keep it dry and clean. Replace battery when LED light is not on; Take out battery for long time use.

OK For a quick voltage check
This Voltage tester is OK as a quick check tool to assess if a visible wire or plug is live or not (but I would still always check with my multi meter before carrying out maintenance or repairs)To be fair not everyone has a multi meter or knows how to use one so I can see that this test tool has it's place in the domestic market for just checking if something has power to it or not before deciding what to do next.Whilst electrical work should only be carried out by a trained professional there are times the untrained person needs to check things like extension cords & lamps etc, Where this could come in handy.*Warning* Do Not Use This To Check For Power In Cables Behind Plaster or Brickwork before drilling etc. It Does Not sense that deep and you could get electrocuted. The tester works at voltages between 90 - 1000V AC and picks up electromagnetic fields which it indicates with a green light for no volts & a red light and audible sound for presence of voltage. It runs on 2 x AAA Batteries (Included) and it has an on / off switch of which a second press activates the built in flashlight.I have noticed that you get different intensity readings depending on which part of the pen head touches the wire, Sometimes the tip indicates low intensity but the left and right side of the head give different readings. But as I said in my view it is only for indicating the presence of voltage and not for accurate monitoring of voltage levels.I will keep this in the drawer at home to carry out quick checks on things that appear to not work before I then get out the tools and meter etc for further works. It was provided to me as a test sample at no cost to review. I have given my own unbiased opinion.*Please never carry out electrical work based on the readings of this pen, always test further with a calibrated meter & call a professional*
