Once Is Enough

Fascinating book. I bought a used copy, unfortunately damaged more than I thought.

Have read Mile’s book several times. It is beautifully written making the reader feel as though they are onboard Tsu Hang. Miles, Beryl and John are an epitaph to team work.

This is a great read if you are into the battle between man and the sea. Need exceptional courage ( or a bit of madness, or both!) if one is to contemplate sailing a vessel around the world. Those 90 year sunami waves occur much more frequently than was thought. They can occur almost anywhere given intense storm conditions (Discovery Channel),although they do not last long, and are mostly dangerous as they break and for a (relatively) short time afterwards. Nothing worse than being rolled over in your yacht in the middle of the night in a force 10 gale ( I imagine, never having sailed more than a mile or two offshore myself, and never at night!). These sailing adventures and adventurers tell amazing stories!

A great book and interesting to read the technology and style of sail and writing back then, True grit and pioneering spirit, tenacious and a bit mad!!

An enjoyable book but a bit too technical in detail of the components and jargon of sailing. Enjoyable all the same.

A sailing saga from the late 50's.Only read it if you want to be deterred from sailing in the south atlantic.Well written and a great tale of survival.
