Quite a specific use case, but for those wishing to take the IStructE exam this book is good as it shows the functional form and how the members join together in various functional framing formats.Informative for the 'casual' reader although this is not the kind of book that I expect to go mainstream. Good to buy and keep in your office and share with colleagues I suppose.

Great book for ideas on structural systems

Great purchase.

This encyclopaedic book manifests all the possible structures of buildings you might have imagined. Every growing architect should have this masterwork at his elbow.

Concise, cohesive and an overall very much comprehensive study on how to explain structures. An absolute must for architecture students. It is an extremely well conceived book regarding the way in which the basics of the subject in question should be taught.The most important feature is the simple but not simplistic way the graphic information is displayed and subsequently explained in a short and direct fashion. Very good interaction in establishing the correlation between the creative forces that drive the conceptualization of spatial entities in their visual form and their real world correspondence in structures behavior.

This is a very interesting book with a lot of structural systems. However perhaps it would be better with more description on the structure types. But the diagrams are very helpful. It seems to be directly translated from german (the book is bilingual with both languages side by side).I'd recommend it to any structural engineer interested in the various structural system types available.
