Precise and quiet
I bought one of these 2nd hand but wanted to leave a review here. This is a good supply for probably about a 40 watt radio by itself, though your manual will tell you what size you need. This old 2nd hand one still puts out a perfect 13.8 volts and is nearly dead silent. I must have my ear close to hear it. Im actually using this with a 100 watt radio. I run the power to a 35 amp hour AGM battery and then over to the radio. It keeps up no problem. The battery buffers the extra watts I need for transmitting and will keep running for hours if the power goes out. If I run the battery down I use a regular automotive trickle charger to get it full before using the power supply on it again. Super smooth unit. About the only downside is it's bulky compared to a switching power supply.
