With American Young's first full-length album, AY, dig deeper into its mission. Each inspired the other to try something crazy: Rather than be guided by trends, they vowed to write and record only music that touched them personally. That way, Kristy explains, “our songs are like invitations to intimacy.” These include “Love Is War” and “God Sends a Train,” two songs fraught with deep emotional meaning and rendered passionately in their new incarnations. The material being premiered on AY is just as revealing. From “Something To You,” which Kristy had to fight back tears to record, to the playfully bantering “Point Of View” and the timeless yet timely tragedies evoked by “Soldier’s Wife,” the album presents Jon and Kristy with neither apology nor artifice. What they offer in song comes from who they are, not what others would want them to be — plus a winning guest appearance by old pal Lee Brice on the sweetly nostalgic “Eighteen.” Maybe this is a risky strategy. Then again, maybe the time has come at last for honesty to reclaim its place in popular music.

A Interesting New Duo That Sing a Different Style of Country Songs
I am not usually one to listen to country music and I bought this for my daughter. She is engaged and she and her fiancée were looking around for a song that fit them for their first dance at the wedding. Her fiancée found this group…somewhere…my daughter doesn't really know where and they are going to use "Point of View" as their first dance song. The song fits them so well as to be scary.With that in mind, I looked for a CD of the group and found out that they hadn't even issued one yet, but it was scheduled for release. I got it for them, because heaven only knows if the DJ they hire will have this in his library.Much of the music comes from their hearts and is fun, light hearted and enjoyable. Some of it is darker. yet the 2 pull it all off rather well. I am not a huge fan of country, but this is something different, and now I will have to buy another to give to my daughter, because this is going into my collection.
