Cool Horizontal stand for Sony PS3 Slim with LEDs

I purchased one of these for my PS3 which had started to run a little hot and I was in truth skeptical about how efficient these things were so didn't want to spend a huge amount of cash on one . to my surprise this turned out to be an excellent purchase it looks great very sleek , it is very quiet and still has a decent amount of air flow produced by the small but efficient fans . the blue led's look nice adding to the unit . it worked straight out the box no hassle with the connection and it works so well i subsequently got a second one for my other games console .to sum up its a steal at this price , it works it looks cool and it keeps cool and as a gamer that is crucial .

When I bought this, I wasn't really expecting much for such a low price, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. Okay, it may be a bit flimsy and cheap looking, but what do you expect? Below, I will tell you what I done to improve this product.....Okay, so the first thing you will probably notice once it is up and running, is that the cooling stand is literally about one millimeter from the base of the PS3. Such a small gap means that the majority of the air being directed by the fans is more than likely just being forced back through the fan itself and out the bottom of the stand, thus serving no purpose. What you want to do is put a little bit of distance between the stand and the base of the PS3. I found four little rubber legs which came from the fastening bolts of my washing machine. These are about an inch thick, and really let the air flow between the cooling stand and the PS3. Alternatively you can cut two strips of wood and place them in between the PS3 and cooling stand. Anything between 0.5 and 1.5 inches is probably optimal.You will also want to make sure that the cooling stand is higher at the back. The reason for this is that the majority of the air will be forced to the higher position, so in this case, it will be forced to the back of the PS3, which is where the vents are situated. By forcing the cool air towards the back, you are effectively dispersing the warm air which is released from the back of the PS3.Some of the reviews state that this cooling stand is pointless because there is no vents on the bottom of the PS3, but besides the heat sync's and thermal paste, ventilation is the next best thing in helping your PS3 have a long life. So even if the cool air is not being forced directly in to the PS3, the fans are helping to circulate the air around it, thus keeping it cooler.When you throw in the cool blue LED lights, I just don't know what's to lose in giving this product a chance. Even if you only get a few months out of it, they're so cheap you can replace it in an instant!

for the money, you cant expect much but this is NOT good for OCD sufferers as a start. there is one light on each fan and they should all be facing forward. the 2 fans should be placed at the front and the LED light is right on the left fan, but is facing backwards on the right one which drove me crazy.maybe im just petty, who knows. the wire also gets stuck on the fans causing them to stop. the fans also stop if too much weight is placed on the product. it doesnt take much. and when i use this with my laptop, my mouse and headset wont work. for the price its fine but i wouldnt recommend it.

arrived sharpish which is always nice, no very protected mind. should first of all point out that i have the old shape ps3 which it is not really designed for but i cant imagine the weight difference is too different. the plastic seemed a bit thin and bent when i put the ps3 on top enough to stop the fans from spinning as they were pinned between the upperside of itself and the floor of the tv stand my ps3 lives in, after a quick check i see its due to the stand ahving a slant to it and made a couple of adjustments (put a couple of pound coins under the short legs) and no problems :) its nice and quiet looks nice for the pennies (and pounds in my case). only real problem with it is that its advertises as having a usb `through port`, mine had a standard usb plug in, no through port so im minus a usb :( all in all a nice little product, but may get a new n8 lightbar to add more led :P

WARNING: DO NOT BUY!I would rate this 0 stars if it was an option!!!I bought this item for my partner to use for his PS3 - Once it had been delivered we set it up and that was that.. Until we noticed an awful burning smell and smoke! The cooling stand blew up!! The wiring was burning hot and we then realised that it was on fire!! We were so lucky that we had noticed it otherwise our house could have set on fire or there could have been serious injuries because of this product!!!! I urge you all NOT to buy this product due to the major health and safety risks!Take care all!
