Quality bowsaw with a light yet sturdy feel
Quickly and easily cuts through a wide range of wood with no wobble and little exertion. Makes light work of bucking logs in areas where using a chainsaw isn't ideal. I opted for the 30in not only for longer cutting strokes but also because it comfortably rests on my shoulder with the handle perfectly aligned with my hand when on the move. Well-made and highly recommended.

The Best Bowsaw I've Found
Bahco is a brand I trust, and their tools are generally robust and good value for money - this bowsaw is no different. I purchased the 30 inch version, and it's perfectly possible to fell and cut up medium sized tree with it. I do like the special saw blade that comes with it, and is designed for green wood. It has additional gaps to prevent the teeth becoming clogged whilst sawing live, moist wood. I bought a selection of spare blades for my saw too, including blades for both live and seasoned wood. Choosing the correct blade for your task makes an enormous difference. Another excellent feature is the adjustable tensioning screw, which is superior to the non adjustable lever found on most bow saws. Lastly, the finger guard is a real bonus, because however experienced you are, bashing your knuckles during vigorous sawing is a hazard. Not any longer. I've seen enough life altering chainsaw accidents to persuade me that manual wood sawing is preferable. Besides that, a bowsaw has nothing to go wrong, is way cheaper, and requires no fuel. Yes, it requires more effort, but exercise is good for you, and I'm not risking losing a limb, or worse. To my mind this excellent bowsaw basic kit for preppers, or anyone with a garden. Coupled with my wonderful Silky saw (also available at Amazon) it's all I need for cutting firewood and maintaining my trees.

I have found this to be a fantastic tool and worth every penny
I have found this to be a fantastic tool and worth every penny. I bought it as I need to saw up a lot of logs for our wood burner. I considered buying a chainsaw, but I'm very glad I saved my money. It was promptly delivered and well packaged. The blade is very easy to fit and to tension. I find the cutting performance to be easy and thorough on both old dry logs and fresh new ones. I've been using it a lot and it is still sharp and cuts brilliantly. I'm not exactly strong, but I find this saw easy to use, it is extremely sharp and well balanced, so I don't have to apply much pressure. The blade can get a bit sticky after a while, but I just apply a bit of oil to the blade. So, if you've got a lot of wood to cut then don't waste money on a chainsaw, buy this surprisingly brilliant tool for the job instead. Based on my experience with it, I cannot recommend this bow saw strongly enough.

Solid saw, highly recommend
We had a very large willow tree come down in storm Bert and couldn't afford to get anybody into sort it out, had also bought a chainsaw but ended up using this instead as it made quick work of everything eight inches and less and I also managed to cut through over 12 inches by going at it from all sides which took time but still worked. Obviously about 12 to 14 feet of the main trunk is still laying where it fell I didn't even attempt to try that with the saw but this saw was invaluable for clearing the rest of the tree from the garden so highly recommend.

Did the perfect job
I was impressed with this product, made light work of taking a tree down that had fallen on the fence, was a good 40ft long but quite thin. It was on the maximum size for the bow saw but it still worked very well. Gave a very smooth cut. It was a basic cut and drop job but none the less it saved me a considerable amount of money - the tree surgeon was going to charge at least 5x as much. It was very comfortable to use and the motion was free flowing due to the sturdiness and sharpness of the saw. Obviously not as quick as the chain saw but perfect to use one handed due to a sprained left wrist. Ladies - you may want to consider this saw if you need one as I found it to be a good weight but not heavy, it had a good grip and it was surprisingly good at getting the job done. I have subsequently used it to saw the branches off the tree and it did a good job there too and it is still sharp. Am very pleased with the product. A good buy and would not hesitate to buy again.

Why oh why did I bother with a £100 chain saw? This saw works better and is cheaper.
This is the business: having seen a review for a Bahco bow saw on youtube by a logger who recommended it over chain saws, I decided to try it. Having tried, for a full afternoon, to cut some root balls with a chain saw with a brand new oregon chain, and got nowhere, I was looking at every alternative: a better chainsaw- a buck saw- a japanese saw. But they all cost 100s. Asked others what to do, how to do it, how much to spend. It all seemed like more work than it should be. Saw cheap bow saws on eBay, went for a review on youtube, and this is what I came back with. I thought for £18, it was worth a punt. All I can say is I wish someone had told me this earlier. 15 minutes with a chain saw, and I got 1 inch into this stupid lump of wood, smoked myself out and was worried what I was doing to the expensive machine. I timed myself with the bow saw: 30 seconds, and it was through. I built up a sweat, sure, but it worked. Tried it on a different bit of timber that had given me no end of grief with a chain saw and a regular wood saw. Straight through. This saw has deep, nasty teeth, and rips through wood very quickly indeed. I heartily recommend it.

I highly recommend this saw. I bought one for half the price from a local big box store and I got 10% of what this saw is. It was unusable. This saw is awesome. Well balanced. Very ergonomic. Very sturdy. And the tensioning system is very easy to turn and makes the blade nice and taut for making straight precise cuts. Spend the extra and get this.
