Double Challenge Paperback – May 17, 2017

We used to have this book in our school library. I had never read this book but a lot of my peers did. Since my son has a keen interest in the outdoors, and since I have a keen interest in keeping him reading, I decided to buy this copy. I was not disappointed; my son loved the story and had it read in a short time. I ended up reading it too. It's an interesting story for a person who enjoys the outdoors, hunting, etc. There are some twists in the plot I don't specifically care for; one specific issue, the disrespect for the authorities (even if they 'weren't in the wrong'). So I throw a little caution at a wholesale endorsement.

How can you go wrong with a Kjelgaard book? So glad it is available as a Kindle book as I have not been able to afford a hard cover copy. If you are a Collie fan you should like this book! Mr Kjelgaard really gets the relationship between us and our dogs.

I read every Kjelgaard book in our school library growing up. His outdoor adventures resonated with me as I longed for the mountains, the hunting and fishing, the great dogs; everything he beautifully described. Rereading Double Challenge some thirty years later, I'm even more impressed with Mr. Kjelgaard's great talent. He didn't write children's books; he wrote great stories that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Kjelgaard is an excellent writer. The story has some good guys and bad guys. Most of the story is about a young man man who lives in the mountains. Story flowed very well throughout.

Excellent stories. Read Mr. Kjeelgard as a young'en. Still reread these stories today.

Great Story that is well told. Teaches love and respect for the outdoors and conservation. A book everyone can learn something from.
