*Start a survival fire under the most extreme conditions *This firestarter has a spark producing rod cemented to a magnesium rod plus a spark producing scraper. Magnesium scrapings produce are extremely flammable and burn at a temperature over 3000 deg F. * This fire starter uses a specially formulated ferrocerium rod that produces a hotter wider spark. * The sparking rod is 1/4" diameter for long life. * The rod is long enough (about 2 1/2") to produce a good shower of very hot sparks. The temperature of the sparks has been measured up to 5500 deg F. * The Magnesium rod is 3/8" diameter and also about 2 1/2" long for long life. *The sparking and magnesium rods are cemented together and inserted into a beautiful antler handle, and then secured with PC-7 epoxy. * The scraper is commercially made of high carbon steel for long life and excellent spark.
