SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS - Prisms can provide such a fun, hands-on way for kids to observe and hypothesize about light. Here's some fun ways to use prisms with preschoolers, kindergarteners, and elementary students. Great for school classroom settings as well as in the home Kids will discover how different things look when observed through a prism. They can see three things because there are three sides around the outside of this prism! Used colored pencils to color over their rainbows created by the prisms on white paper. What a fun way for them to see all the colors of the rainbow right up close! With the thousands of toys out there, give kids a toy that will awe and inspire them to learn. PHOTOGRAPHY - create unique and eye catching results that, quite frankly, don't look like photoshop because, well, they're not done in photoshop. Get the edge you're looking for with these clear prisms to make the light dance and capture the shots that will make you smile with satisfaction This all comes with a money back guarantee so rest assured, we've got you covered

Looks like the perfect and safe present for a very serious and gifted child. A sheet of ideas for fun things to do with it would help. I will have to make one up for her.

Not worth it
These were used to explain optics to middle schoolers. They did not at all show the spectrum, they might have been just pieces of glass. Totally useless.

Very fine equilateral prism
I received a complimentary sample of this in exchange for a fair review. This is a nice quality equilateral prism, perfect for demonstrations of refraction, total internal reflection, and dispersion. Such demonstrations require a bit of skill to set up, but this prism will function perfectly. You could use a laser(such as a laser pen) to easily demonstrate refraction and internal reflection, but since it is monochromatic, that won't demonstrate dispersion unless you use two or more lasers of different colors(green and red laser pens are available). If you look through the prism, it is easy to notice dispersion(light breaking up into a spectrum of colors). This is made out of acrylic so it will not break as easily as glass and is safer around young students. All three sizes in this brand are shown in the attached photo.
