I made it fit my 2001 WJ too!
I had gotten some cheap $100 headers for my 2001 Grand Cherokee here on Amazon to eliminate the dual catalytic converters that are built into the factory exhaust manifold but I did so before thinking about the use of my factory down pipe… The new headers were single exit instead of dual exit that came stock so both parts were going to have to be junked. But I took a shot on this bad boy and it worked out perfectly! Fit just right, great alignment throughout, all the bends were in the right spots, super easy to install, and all of it together sounds awesome!!! The only issue was that the exhaust hanger was offset by 4-6 inches but it was a cheap and easy fix down at the local exhaust shop.

Very nice fit
I used this as part of a complete exhaust system upgrade on my 97 Cherokee XJ and it worked perfect. I welded it to a Magnaflow direct fit cat which then goes into a Flowmaster 44. The system is rounded out with the walker tail pipe which fit but some of the pipe bend angles differed a few degrees from factory. With the whole system welded it has a great, deep tone unique to the 4.0L.

Good Option for Price
Thinner than OEM, slightly smaller diameter than OEM (had to use a butt band clamp instead of the fit in pipe flare it comes with). However, it bolted right in on my 99 XJ and doesn't have the weird dent right after the manifold that the OEM pipes have, welds looked good. One note for anyone w/ a long arm, it sticks over to the pass side a bit farther than the OEM pipe and may lead to contact when flexed out.

Don't buy this unless you can weld and don't mind fixing mistakes.
One of 3 potential scenarios occurred here. Number 1, this was manufactured either on a monday or a Friday. Scenario 2, the welded this one up and had no idea how to weld as well as properly place the flange before welding the o2 bung on. Finally, possible scenario 3, the quality control department at Walker was on vacation the week this down pipe was made. I've used this exact part number numerous times over the years and the quality always seems decent for the price, but Stevie Wonder could've welded this thing better than whatever person or (out of calibration) machine welded this thing. The bird s!#? weld isn't even my biggest issue though, my biggest issue is the friggin flange. Wtf? Good thing I'm a competent welder and I just plan to rework this part but come on Walker this is just unacceptable. If you can't weld stay away from this thing because if you're buying this to save money and then have a shop install it, they're either going to tell you they can't or get dollar signs in their eyes at the idea of fixing it and charging you through the teeth to make it work. The biggest take away here is that it's a gamble, you might get a winner, but you might get a dud.

Good fit
Fit perfect.. It was easy to replace the cracked old pipe and to install this new one.. I didnt even need to jack up the Jeep.. I also painted with high heat paint to help protect the metal before installing.. Will see how that does long term.

Good Product.
Installed it in my 1999 jeep xj, no problems. Painted it over with some Rust-Oleum High Heat Ultra, and she's ready to go. Good Price!

1999 XJ fit perfect.
1999XJ It was a perfect fit. I couldn’t of asked for an easier install with this pipe. It had all the bends in all the right places and everything slid together as it should. Good quality metal.
