Weak construcion, but it has a beautiful and vibrant pattern. The material is actually pleasantly soft, but the stitching is only one (very thin) layer. The mat is relatively small, however, that allows for easier storage.The biggest issue has to do with utility. It not sturdy and does not create enough friction to keep it in one place on a hardwood floor. It is not a carpet or a rug - it is a playmat. I would advise against treating it like a rug/carpet (as furnishing for a kid’s room). It works well over a carpet and that should help prevent slips, slides, and spills.If the threads weren’t loose upon opening the box (a tag was craftily placed over the unseemly seam), I would give this rug 4-5 stars. It really is very colorful.
