Durable, high quality wire
This wire is copper with a silver coating. It bends easily, and retains its shape. I use it to make angel ornaments, and the color/shine are long lasting. It does not tarnish easily, though a few of the ornaments I've created have begun to show a slight yellow hue. I'm not certain, but that may be due to the environment they're stored in.I've been wirewrapping for over a decade, and have tried many different brands of wire. This is by far the highest quality of craft wire I've ever worked with. It's difficult to find this brand locally, and it's much more expensive in local stores, so I'm glad that Amazon continues to carry it!

Excellent wire! Real Sterling Silver plating makes a big difference
Artistic Wire is best silver plated copper wire I've found as they actually use real sterling silver rather than nickel or tin. The difference in brightness and shine is really obvious when compared to other 'silver plated' craft wires. I make complex wire wrapped jewelry but cannot yet afford to work in pure sterling silver, so this is an excellent compromise.30 gauge wire is extremely fine, measuring about 0.25mm (0.01 inches). This is dead soft wire (annealed) so it is very malleable. Being so thin it can snap easily, so one must be careful while working. This wire is good for weaving, lashing pieces together, and being used as a thread. Keep in mind that as one works, the wire will harden and become brittle. I highly advise keeping your weaving wire on a small silicone kumihimo bobbin top prevent this wire fatigue. This is not a defective product, but a natural process found when working with wire (as one cannot stop the effects of physics and chemistry). This is a copper wire with a thin coating of sterling silver, so you cannot polish it using anything abrasive. The wire does come with a thin enamel coating that can rub off while worked. I suggest that once you've made a piece you should wash it and dry it carefully with a soft cloth. You can then seal the piece with a rub-on wax or enamel sealer to protect it from tarnish.

Great for knitting
I love this wire. This is the second time I have ordered it. I made over a dozen bracelets with the first spool and I still have some left. With heavy use this wire keeps its sheen. The silver plate clasps I used are showing sings of wear with heavy use, but not this wire. It holds its shape well and doesn't tarnish or "wear off".I find 28 gauge to be the perfect size for Viking knit and crocheting with wire. 30 gauge is a little too thin and doesn't hold it's shape that well. 26 gauge is a little too stiff for delicate work. 28 seems to be perfect. This wire is very pliable and is easy to manipulate.FYI- gauge size refers to the thickness of the wire. The higher the gauge, the thinner the wire. This can get confusing until you discover where the numbers come from. Wire is made by pulling metal through a drawing plate (a plate with successively smaller holes in it). The more times it is pulled through, the smaller the wire gets. Gauge referred to how many times the wire was pulled through....thus, higher gauges are thinner.Regarding delivery, I have Prime and this came in two days. It was packed well.I hope this review is helpful.

Not white!
The wire is okay but looks gray when placed near white!

I'll be back for some more...
Having worked with wire for a number of years, I have certain expectations of how it handles. The beautiful dead soft quality of this artistic wire makes it easy to work, and the clear coating makes it slide through the fingers smoothly. I would recommend that a beginner handle this wire with extra care as the coating can be scratched with pliers and other tools, but with care the surface remains unmarked and smoothUnlike some other craft wires, this retained it mirror smooth silvery finish even after tight wrapping and coiling. Some craft wires will dull as soon as you work it, ruining the work as soon as you craft it. I will be back to try more colours in this lovely wire. It looks like untarnished silver, the only downside being that you can't give it that 'antique' finish of real silver, but that is a small price to pay for a lovely medium. This is definitely my favourite of any craft wire I have used

Perfect for Viking Knit
This is perfect for doing Viking Knit! Its very pretty an extremely workable. I have gone thru several purchases of wire that just wasnt good enough. Even ordered some 925 silver which kinked up like aluminum foil. Other wire broke off when i tryed pulling it thru the holes of the board to make the knit smaller. This wire is fluid enough for viking knit, strong enough to be worked and then pulled thru the board. And after searching an searching; i believe this is the best deal out there!

Best wire for wire jewelery.
I have been using Artistic Wire for years for making jewelry. The main reason I use it, is that it silver plated, with tone color added. The other reason is the high shine that the wire has.
