M1A primer book... for the beginner
Having be a high power person for years... I have heard more bull behind the firing line than at an Iowa hog farm. Forget all the BS in the postings on the web from people who's advice comes from the bottom of a beer bottle. I disagree with only about 1% of what is in this book.. Very little useless war stories. He does not waste everyone's time by knocking down various brands or manufactures like idiots on the M14 blogs. It is full of actual facts. How to do instructions and safety advice. Besides the written instructions, it includes very clear black and white photos. I really knew most of what he explains except the unique characteristics of Korean M14s which I have had not interest in owning... but he does explain how they differ from U.S.A. M14 and how to adjust to those differences to produce a safe to fire M14. . He does not talk about the tricks that need to be done to enhance accuracy of a M14 but covers all assembly procedures and bolt fitting and etc.. If you are a new competitor to high power and interested in moving up to a M14, I recommend this book and stop listening to range idiots who just spread unfounded rumors about this or that with regard to the M14. Only one area I factually disagree with... that is a cast receiver IS stronger and more uniform than a forged receiver. Science is more accurate than idiots who contribute on internet blogs. It rates 5 stars....

Perfect for The Serious M1A Owner!
I found the book to be exactly what I was looking for in a well-illustrated guide to the Springfield Armory M1A rifle system. The book covers in detail how to disassemble and reassemble the rifle and points out the pitfalls along the way. Inspection criteria are covered thoroughly, and sections are included on National Match Sights and Trigger Installation and Adjustments. This book is quite a lot of bang for your buck!

Excellent primer on the M1A/M14
As someone new to the platform, I really appreciated the detailed descriptions and pictures. I enjoyed this one so much that I purchased the AR15 guides (despite prior experience with that platform) and picked up a tip or two there as well. Well worth the cash.

Highly thorough and technically dense.
I purchased this as a general field stripping and maintenance guide. This book is much more detailed than that and is best suited to a gunsmith or someone of that technical caliber. It would help an M1A owner find their way around field stripping, cleaning and maintenance but you have to be patient as you look for those aspects in the many chapters. Moral: not recommended for beginners, best book there is if you're doing a rebuild or want to get deep into the weeds on the subject of the M1A/M14 family of weapon systems.

It's title is perfect.
I found the book to be a Godsend. I had a disassembled M1-A1 in a box that I had told someone, I would take a shot at reassembeling. the weapon. I did not know that this piece had been taken down to a point where it could no longer be taken down further. I was able to find out which pieces I was missing. Then with all of the parts I was able to put the rifle back i9n running condition. I know with out this book I would still be trying to figure out what I was missing and may have given it back and told him that he should have paid attention when he took it apart. I felt good giving it back to him in 100% operating condition. I told him the next time I am charging him. I probably won't really but I do have a couple of other things to do and telling him that I was going to charge Might slow him and others down .Helping someone is fun. When it turns into a major 3 week ordeal and san's parts I want people to think that I might just charge the and they may learn how to do thier own weapons. Tired and grateful for Kulecks book, HEMI.

are you a gunsmith?
This book is quite detailed and has loads of close-up photos. If you do your own gunsmithing and want to work on or build your own match grade M1-A, this is a good reference book and guide. If you just want to shoot and service your own rifle, you may want to consider "The M14 Owner's Guide and Match Conditioning Instructions," by Duff & Miller instead. I bought both of these books at the same time, and found there is some overlap, but I would probably buy both again. [But then again, I have been a competitive shooter for 40+ years, and a shooting instructor as well.]
