An enjoyable summer read
I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book, it wasn't possible to guess the final outcome. The storyline was good and the characters were realistic and likeable (except for Nick). The descriptions of the area and information about places of interest made for lovely summer reading. I will be looking for more by this author.

A fun read.
A fun, light read which made me want to jump on my bike to cycle, drink and eat my way around France.

Slow, boring
I struggled to get into the story, was not engaging. The idea for the the story was great but the characters didn’t have any real back bone.

Easy read
A good easy read. Found the pace a little slow when she was on the bike with her fiancé but it got better when he was injured.

couldn't get into it
I was trying to figure out the point of the book and debating whether to continue. The F bomb sealed it for me.

Great travel log
My favorite part was the descriptiveness of the trip. Some of the character interaction was frankly annoying but the journey kept my interest! And, the characters personalities were well developed in the dialogue.

Entertaining Read
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was entertaining and full of memorable characters and scenes. I especially enjoyed the additional information that was included in the author's website. It was fun to read about the research that he did while writing this book and to read additional blog entries from the main character, Catherine, that were not included in the book. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a light, romantic and fun story!

A great holiday read
You don’t have to be a cyclist to enjoy this funny, light-hearted romance set in rural France. Catherine, the instantly likeable heroine, is smart and kind-hearted – but it doesn’t seem to be helping her relationship with her boyfriend, extreme adventurer Nick. In fact, Catherine'’s tolerance might just be a terminal case of ambivalence. Struggling to overcome her natural wimpiness, she agrees to cycle around France with Nick in an attempt to strengthen their bond. But life is its own journey and things don’t turn out quite as planned… The major and minor characters all sparkle, especially the passionate and eccentric Balchoffers and the terrifying Uncle George. Along the way we get to visit historic sites and villages, see the scenery and glean snippets of wisdom about life, relationships and the importance of travel. A great holiday read.

The journey of a lifetime
Starts when you get on the cycle. A story search, change, transformation and redemption; and while well researched, the story is simply written leaving only an allusion to the potential of the complexityof the story. As a result it misses the color and excitement that one might expect from riding through France for the summer except in the imagination of the reader.

A Very Different Book
I enjoyed the conceit of a tandem bike trip as a metaphor for life. I thought the characters were well developed and the plot twisted compellingly. A darned good read.

Love cycling? Love France? Jump aboard
To be honest I am not that interested in romantic novels or cycling. But this book is very well written. The characters are well developed and you get a real feel for France. The plot is nicely tied up at the end; happy endings all round. I can even see a sequel here; it would be fun to see what Katie does next:). This is a pleasant and easy read without too much taxing of the brain.

An enjoyable read!
I worked with Andrew Bowie for a number of years and would never have guessed he had this story in him. Very enjoyable and I learned so much about cycling and France. Loved every minute of the book.

A charming journey through France
A wonderfully crafted story combining the beauty of France with the challenge of relationships. Bowie really knows how to write realistic dialogue. A pleasure to read.
