how many times can i apply 1 pencil?

this is a wax crayon.. coverage is so-so and its not waterproof as advertised. Look at the "Wonderbrow" product, this is a real waterproof, fantastic product for covering grey and filling in sparse areas.

Will it wash off while swimming?

Not sure but this was not a good product for me. It was greasy looking and made my hair look matted down, a good one in comparison is the bumble and bumble.

Do you sharpen this pencil, or, twist-up?

The pencil has an angled tip so you don't have to sharpen it. It twists up.
