Great book!
Love the book! My son has an anaphylactic allergy to wheat and May is the Food Allergy Awareness Month and I wanted to read a book about allergies to raise awareness among his classmates, and this book was perfect. They loved it. I like how the story explains allergic reactions in a simple way and what should and shouldn't be done. It’s also perfect for reading to your child if they have any allergies and you want them to be more aware of them.

Great book
Two of my kids have anaphylactic food allergies. This was a helpful book for my 4-year-old who doesn't have allergies to to understand why her little brother can't have certain foods. I'm sure it'll be helpful when he's old enough to read it also.

Great way to talk about a hard, important topic!
Books are a great way to explain difficult things to children, and allergy books for small children are in short supply. This book is great. It’s clear, and the back page is great for talking about my child’s specific allergies. She can now answer me when I ask if she has any allergies, and can identify her allergies by name and image. She is two, for reference, and started identifying them just before age two so I would say this is a really great book for really small children!

Great to introduce food allergies
This is a great book to help introduce food allergies to little ones. My toddler who is ANA to dairy and eggs, among other allergies, really enjoys it. It is used as a step towards understanding so he can become more independent. We love it.

Food allergy informed therapist
This is a decent book for helping a young child understand food allergies. I think it's a bit more appropriate for a child who doesn't have food allergies than a child who does especially one with an IgE mediated allergy because the content is not so realistic. For example, Daniel casually goes to the doctor's office when he's having a reaction. There is no mention of the an epipen. It also describes the food allergy as his body 'not liking the food' which I don't think is so helpful for distinguishing food allergies from food preferences for young kids. And the food in the book is peaches which is not so common. The most useful part of the book are the three safety tips for kids at the end and it's definitely a good introduction to discussing food allergies with kids.

Bought this when my son was 2 and starting nursery. He has allergies to egg and milk and it was really helpful to have something to use to explain more about allergies and safety and he really liked the book too which is helpful also. Well-written and kept positive

My daughter likes this book but it is not an accurate representation of what should happen after contact with a food allergen. She could not take such a casual approach with the reaction that Daniel describes
