Hawke 5MB Trail camera - PC5000

The worst fault with this camera is that there is a 5 second delay between something triggering the camera and a photo or video clip being taken. Consequently the camera is very good at taking pictures of places where something has just been!The manual states that the delay can be reduced to 1 second but the supplier has confirmed that this is misleading.Picture quality is mediocre and is not nearly as good as the camera on my mobile phone.

I would not recommend the Prostalk 5 mb Trail Camera as its overall performance is very poor.1. The PIR sensor is nothing like as sensitive as claimed - generally about 6 metres maximum, and only large animals like muntjac and badgers will trigger it.2. The response time to take a photograph seems slower than claimed, so that there is often nothing within the frame when the picture is taken.3. In night vision mode, the shutter speed is so slow that most animals appear badly blurred if they haven't already passed out of the frame.4. In night vision mode anything within about 4 metres of the camera is over-exposed i.e. most things that the PIR sensor can detect.5. All photographs in night vision mode have a dark shadow round the left hand side (a kind of half-halo effect). i.e. there is never a similar halo on the right hand side. The supplier (Handycam.com) did not think this was indicative of a faulty camera when I queried this.6. Although daylight photographs are generally much better, the camera cannot focus on objects within about 2/3 of a metre. So all my attempts at close-up photographs of bird feeders give blurred pictures.If I can ever afford to buy another camera with such a hefty price tag, I'll definitely try another brand.

We though we had some one taking a short cut up the side of our house and kept opening our gate. So we fitted the trail camera to a post. When I viewed the card I found that we had a big black cat had been jumping over the gate . I found this camera takes a very good photo at night.

We purchased 2 of these cameras, Hawke 5MB camera PC5000 and ended up swopping them both twice and eventually a third time. I was so disappointed, luckily we purchased them through a shop and they had to do all the haggling to get them replaced , the final pair have now gone wrong. The day time picture clarity was very good, when they worked !Please think very carefully , in our opinion they are a waste of money.

The manual with this camera says that the delay between the PIR picking up an action and the camera operating can be set at anything from 1 second to 1 hour but in fact the delay will not go lower than 5 seconds. This results in mostly empty pictures as in the 5 seconds delay the subject matter has generally moved on. The camera does not function as indicated and is more or less useless for obtaining nature shots. The set up functions also are difficult with screen content that is not in the manual.

This is the best thing I have purchased on any shopping trip. It is absolutely brilliant to see what goes on when you are not there. the dear and other birds and animals like hares ect. brilliant cannot wait to see next pictures.

Fast Delivery, excellent product. When I had problem with password, I was invited to return the camera, which I did, and I received a new replacement by return.
