Used to digitize blue ray
Used this to digitize wedding videos on my 2017 Intel based MacBook Pro. Worked as expected. Computer needed a reboot before it was properly recognized.

READ BEFORE BUYING
UPDATE: I originally stated that I've used this drive to rip 45-50 Blu-rays, and burn a couple too. Additionally having used it to rip some CDs. Since, as in the very same hour of submitting this review, the device inexplicably shutoff 82% of the way through a Blu-ray writing process, completely wasting my non-rewrtiable disc, and my time. Poor quality. My two (original) issues with the device is #1: that it can't seem to play, or rip DvDs; I honestly thought it was broken earlier when I tried to do so. #2: it has a ridiculously short cord, which cannot be removed, and is required to be plugged in to either a 3.0 or USB Type C port capable of providing power, inconvenient for Desktops. IMPORTANT: Many reviewers are faulting the device for not being capable of playing Blu-rays in the same "plug-and-play" fashion as DvDs. That's actually not a defect of the device; unlike DvD, which is owned by no one exclusively, Blu-ray is owned by Sony. The playback functionality of DvD is royalty free, it's why Windows can play them with any drive. You're meant to purchase officially licensed software in order to play Blu-rays, or buy a PS4/dedicated Blu-ray player.
