Digital Clamp Meter, Synerky 4000 Counts Auto-Ranging Multimeter AC/DC voltmeter, AC/DC Current, Resistance, Frequency, Diode, Hz Tester with Backlight LCD Display

Low quality, not so durable

This is the least expensive clamp meter I could find on Amazon that does both AC current......AND......DC current with the clamp.All other multi-meters in this price range only do AC current and many are not very clear in their description that they don't. It only makes sense get the added DC current functionality for same price as others.Note: Te meter has to be clamped over a single wire to work. If for example you clamp over an entire power cord it will not read current. This is typical of clamp meters and not a knock on the meter. You may need to create a special extension cord and strip away the outside cover to reveal the inner still insulated wires that will let you clamp on a single wire.My more specific review comments are shown below:The Good: - Its does BOTH DC current with the clamp as well as AC current with the clamp. - Clamp not sensitive to position. While measuring AC current, I moved the wire within the clamp and saw no change in current reading.. This was over a measured current range of 0.5A to 11A. - Great current range. I can measures from tenths of an amp up to 400A so the meter provides a nice wide range of uses from testing small appliances to measure the power out of the fuse box to your house. - Continuity tester! Comes with an audible continuity tester. An incredibly useful feature most inexpensive meters ignore nowadays. - Great Power Saver. The unit will beep at you if not used for a period of time and then a short time later will give a long beep and power down. This is the first low cost meter that Ive had that had this feature. Love saving the batteries! - Good accuracy. I measured the AC current with clamp of a known load and it was right on. - Good display. The digits are large, easy to read. - Audio cues nice and loud. The audio cues for say the continuity tester are loud and of low enough frequency to be hear well. - Test probes are long. The test probes provided with it are long and durable. - Clamp has a large opening to fit up to 1-1/8" dia wire. - It well packaged. in a rugged plastic case. I did drop it with no resulting damage. - Clamp can function as....well a clamp. If you using the test lead features one can use the clamp to hold the meter in a convenient location when you have both hands busy! - Just a 9v battery is needed.The Bad: - No display back light - Slippery to hold. It could some texted sides for a more secure grip. It does come with a wrist lanyard though. - The probe connections are not color coded.These are very minor complaints IMO but none-the-less could be improvements.CONCLUSION: Great value for multi-meter that measures both AC and DC current with the clamp and with auto shutoff to save battery. Well thought out functions are provided for an excellent general purpose multi-meter with the benefit of non intrusive clamp measurements.

First: I am NOT a professional electrician, but a home handyman, who is slowly training himself to use better diagnostic tools. I am primarily using this meter to do auto repairs, but plan on using it for household jobs. So far I have discovered it is easy to understand and to use. I cannot rate it's dependability because I have not used it extensively yet, but it seems to be a solid, well built unit.

If you are looking for a AC/DC voltmeter, it works great. One thing to notice, some indicators on the display are to small for my vision.

This is a top notch product at a great price. It does everything I need it to do. I highly recommend this meter.
