THIS SLICER IS INCREDIBLE!
My homemade bread machine loaf of bread fit in it just right, a tiny bit snug, which prevented the loaf from wiggling around when I sliced it. It has a little groove in the bottom of the slicing tray for the knife to go into after it slices through the depth of the bread to prevent the plastic from getting sliced. I had returned a bamboo one that the bread was way to loose in and my knife cut into the bamboo after it cut through the loaf. This is incredibly easy to use, clean, and works great and folds for storage. Finally found a perfect little slicer that takes up very little room in my kitchen and cuts perfect slices. Love it and highly recommend it.

Works great for us!
Have had this for a couple years and itโs works for us! We donโt use it a ton, so someone using it daily might not like it, but I appreciate that it folds up nicely and is compact. It cuts the bread in uniform pieces. For $10 I paid, Iโm happy. And at the price point, if it breaks, itโs cheap enough to easily replace

A decent, inexpensive slicer
This inexpensive slicer does what I need it to do. It helps me make even cuts across the entire loaf. The rubber feet donโt work very well so the slicer has a tendency to slide across my counter. To work around this I put a cutting board against the wall and use that as a stop for the slicer. It makes the entire process easier and I can slice the full loaf in just about 2 minutes. The slicer is lightweight, easy to adjust, easy to clean and folds up neatly for easy storage.

Cuts uniform slices
What I like about this bread slicer guide is it's simplicity and low cost. It is collapsible for easy storage when not in use. Has the capability of choosing 3 different thicknesses for slicing. If your bread fits inside the holding tray/guides, the bread stays in place during the cutting process and does not move around. This guide does a very good job of cutting one slice at a time. There are times when I would want to cut a whole loaf at once and then package it and put in freezer. It does not have this capability as far as I can see. Also, if the loaf is bigger than the tray and side guides, it will not work well. I was fortunate in that I used 4 x 8 inch bread pans and mine fit perfectly. We like this smaller size bread anyway. If there is a slicing guide out there that will cut the whole loaf at one time, I would like to see it. In the meantime, this is working just OK for me.

Definitely not for me
Don't bother. If, in my enthusiasm to have a bread slicer, I hadn't thrown away the box, I'd return it. It has several cons: It moves all around when you're trying to slice the bread despite the little rubber pieces they give you for the bottom. There's a slight lean, so your bread will be thicker on the top than on the bottom. You can only cut one slice at a time. You have to remove the cut piece to cut another. Certainly not convenient for cutting a loaf of bread. Pro: It is adjustable for thickness.

Updated 11/21/20 For bread makers e.g. toast, ease of use, cleaning, just what we needed
Updated 11/21/2020 - happier with this after a couple months use than at the outset. found that using a serrated blade and allowing the bread to cool first make a world of difference. that's why i changed the rating from four to five stars. i attached a photo to this review to show bread from a bread maker when sliced on the next to thinnest setting. we recently picked up a bread maker. we'd always in the past just made bread from scratch but for a host of reasons it just isn't feasible on a regular basis anymore. i thought i'd gotten all i would need for a bread machine but as i don't eat toast slicing for the toaster wasn't something on my mind. that is until it arrived and the rest of the family started to chime in. the bread from a bread maker at least ours anyway, is rounded so cutting thin slices would mean sooner or later someone, likely me would get cut. i saw a bunch of these slicers here on amazon. regardless of 'brand names' most were just two designs. the bamboo type and this plastic design. i have gotten wood items from asia before and unfortunately with our dry climate the wood began to dry, shrink and warp. but as to this product specifically i was also thinking most about cleaning and sanitizing which is more difficult to do properly with wood products. which is why we do not have a wood cutting board but rather a plastic one. this cutter has just two moving parts to deal with. the pop-out 'stand' which folds back up when not in use and the flat piece used to set how thick you want your bread to be. as to thickness you can go from thinner than store bought 'wonder bread' width or up to texas toast slabs. the knife just runs through the cut out portion and that's it to use. considering what this cost i am very happy with it. there were no quality control defects whatsoever. most importantly it does the job and if you just treat it with normal care, nothing special, i expect ours to last for a good while. if it does eventually break again going back to cost, no big deal as i actually got more than what i paid for IMHO. i would recommend this bread slicer without reservation.

Flimsy and under-size, but workable
On the plus side, I really liked that this folds up for storage in my tiny kitchen. I saw reviews saying it was too small, not tall enough for the loaf. I figured I'd take a chance on that, seeing as I slice from the bottom of the loaf it's vertical clearance (6-3/16 inches) shouldn't matter. Well, the height didn't matter, but it turns out the thing is about a quarter inch narrower than my bread machine pan is wide. The slicer clearance side to side is 4-5/8 inches. As I don't let the bread crust get hard, with a bit of doing I'm able to work with it by squeezing the loaf in. As for the reviews talking about flimsiness, I figured I'd just be gentle with it and there would be no problem. And their wasn't, until gravity struck and it took the inevitable fall off the kitchen counter as most kitchen tools do at least once. And that once was enough to break off one of the tiny plastic pins that someone thought would make an adequate hinge. ...It doesn't. I'm able to live with it still, though it requires more dexterity to press the bread against the backstop while trying not to dislodge the bottom part. This would have been a 4 star review were it not for the under-engineered hinge.

Perfect!
No space for storage of large slicer, didn't want to spend much for a slicer, I looked for alternatives. Lucked up on this slicer and so glad I did. Small, afordable, neat, does exactly what I wanted it to do and more. Yes, it's plastic and just a tad flimsy but just hold firmly when slicing and you get a perfect slice everytime. Loaf seemed too wide to fit in the opening to slice. Squeezed it a bit and it worked, making slicing steadier and more uniform. My only wish is that it came in a thin wood option to match my cutting board. Either way I'd buy it, highly recommend it, and would buy again as is.
