Search for the finest, bold tasting decaf in a k-cup
I'm a coffe hound, used to hanging out at shops in Milwaukee that had high octane java, and new art on the walls every week. I moved and somehow that coincided with starbucks being the only place for a reasonable hard-hitting cup. When the k-cup trend started I got spoiled with a fresh cup each time. Then, I had to cut back on caffeine. What to do? Search for the finest, bold tasting decaf in a k-cup. When I saw Mad Monkey Kick It Decaf, I was intrigued. The price is certainly right! I am happy with this find of truly bold decaf that doesn't taste like decaf.I am adding to my review, that while my praise for the Mad Monkey Kicki-It Decaf is positie, I have tried the regular Mad Monkey Swingin Bold, and I love it. It has that grunge coffee shop strong but fresh kick! Kicki It!

Amazingly bold and fantastically wonderful coffee.
This has to be the best coffee I have gotten from a Keurig machine to date. The Swingin' Bold has a strong dark woody aroma when brewed. You can see the natural oils on the surface after brewing, something almost never seen with other K-cups. This coffee has a potent flavor that smacks your pallet around and lets you know you're drinking one heck of a cup-of-Joe. When drinking there is no bitterness to it at all, unlike other dark roast coffee's. Also another note is there is none of the acrid after taste commonly found with many coffee types. Instead you are left with a smooth pleasant taste that makes you want more. It is as close to a espresso type blend as you can get from a Keurig. I brought in a batch of them for my office who are a bunch of coffee snobs who will only drink from their hand ground specialty $25./lb coffee that was made with an Aeropress keeps coming back for more of this. Out of curiosity opened a used capsule up to see what's what with it. We were all amazed with how much coffee that is packed in there. Mad Monkey has packed this absolutely full with what looks like a near espresso grind coffee and is using a totally different filter than the normal K-cups. So the claims that they make about it are true.A couple things to note is with the 2.0 Keurig's unless you have the sensor block in place your coffee maker will pitch a fit about it. Also because there is so much coffee packed in there and the special filter causes it to brew much more slowly so be patient and wait until it is finished or it will bubble grounds up the top puncture point.

Pretty Good (was Try Before you Buy, read for explanation)
(Review upon trying right after receiving:) I did not enjoy this coffee. It has an aspect of its odor and flavor that I didn't enjoy and can't quite identify. I have tried many different brands of K-cup coffee and like bold coffees, but this one will go in the guest/giveaway box. I recommend trying it before you buy it... I bought it based on the reviews here, and found that in this case the proportion of 5-star reviews is outsized. I will say that brewing at manufacturer-recommended 8oz hid much of the odd flavor I didn't like when brewing it at 10oz.(Review a day later:) I tried it again the next day and most of the odd odor/taste is gone. Maybe it was hot from the UPS truck or something and that caused problems (I tried it right after delivery). I can still taste a little bit of it but I can up it one star.Current review: after having in my house a few days all of the odd odor and taste is gone from cups I have had yesterday and today. The only explanation I have is what I speculated above, that the product was in high temperature and now is in lower temperature. Anyway, whatever the reason, the coffee is pretty good.Sorry for the review that seems to meander and changes opinion, but the moral of the story is if you get this from somewhere other than a store shelf, and it tastes really funny, give it a couple of days and try it again.

really good coffee. Excellent price
Really, really good coffee. Excellent price. I loooove dark, strong coffee. This definitely fits the bill. Very good flavor. I even think that it can be environmentally friendly. The coffee, filter and lid easily separate from the cup, so I recycle the cup. Delicious. I will absolutely buy it again. You can't beat the price, even at Costco. And it is waaay better than the Costco brand of Kcups.UPDATE: After using several times, I did notice that it does have an issue with the flow. I now pop it into the machine, so that it pierces the bottom, then I just pull it out real quick and open up that hole just a tiny bit more. Works fine. Otherwise, it does end up just trickling. No biggie, worth the price!

decent coffee but flawed "Realcup" pods.
The Mad Monkey Midtown Medium coffee itself was ok, especially when you factor in its low price. However, the box of forty-eight that I received had only nine intact "real cups", all of the others had lost their seal making the coffee stale and undrinkable. The Marley coffee company, which is my favorite brand coffee, uses the same type of k-cups branded "Realcup", and usually out of a box of forty-eight there are a few with broken seals. I have seen a box of Marley One Love have up to six defective "Realcups", which is bad, but to have more than 80% of the k-cups be unusable is not acceptable. The only reason to spend the extra money for K-cup coffee is its freshness so I can't recommend this brand. In the picture the pile of cups on the right are all the ones with broken seals and the few on the left are intact. Notice how the ones on the left are puffy and the ones on the right are flat and wrinkly looking.
