Wish I had bought something else
3 month update: I've docked a star (from 4 to 3) because the plug sent with the clock no longer works. I have plenty of other plugs I can stick the USB into, but that's not really the point (it shouldn't go out). The clock is still a bit too bright for me- it's a nice looking clock, but I wish I had gone with something else.Overall, I like this alarm clock and I would definitely recommend it (with a few caveats). I particularly like the look of this alarm clock, but it could be a bit easier to set up. Full disclosure: I do not use this clock as an alarm (just to see what time it is when I wake up in the middle of the night), so I am unable to ascertain the ability to rouse someone, however I'm a relatively light sleeper who never uses "snooze" so I'm probably not the best to assess in this category anyway. I've highlighted some more specific details below.Appearance: this is my favorite part of this clock- it looks really nice. It looks sleek and crisp and very modern. I like that it displays the time and the temperature at the same time (both are useful pieces of information when I wake up in the morning). My one complaint about the look is how bright it is- there are 3 brightness settings, but the lowest one is still pretty bright (my husband disagrees and says my eyes are too sensitive). There is a way you can turn the clock off altogether and have it turn on only when tapped or when it "hears" a loud noise, but for me, that disputes the desire to have a clock showing the time at night for me.Ease of use: I can usually figure out relatively simple appliances without a manual. That is definitely not the case here. I have even kept the manual for future use, which is annoying (who needs another piece of paper lying around the house just waiting to be lost) but absolutely necessary. There are 3 buttons on the back- "set" and "up" and "down". Set sets the date, time, alarms, etc (you need to scroll through date and time to be able to set alarm and turn it on and off- to me, this isn't super intuitive and might be annoying if you have to set different alarms for different times of day- if you are in this boat, I would NOT recommend this alarm clock for you). The up and down arrow help scroll through the set settings, but also determines brightness and sensitivity to sound. So, not straight forward- you will likely need to keep the manual.Other considerations: you can power this clock either with electricity or with batteries. Given other reviews, since I want the clock face on at night, battery life seems to be poor, so I've opted for electricity. The supplied cord is not terribly long- enough to reach the floor, and that's about it. I do really like, however, that it has an internal battery, so if the unit comes unplugged, it's able to keep time so you don't have to go through the whole set up phase multiple times!

I DONT NEED TO KNOW WHAT YEAR IT IS. (I’m not demented or from outer space)
I have had this clock for over a year now. A few things I like a lot about this small but basic clock. I needed a small alarm clock because out Antigua nightstands are small.. The room temperature and humidity feature is great. I don’t think this takes up too much space on the display like others have said. I don’t have a problem with the brightness because if it annoy me I lay the display flat. (Rare occurrence).Cons:I wish this had a snooze button. ALOT!Setting it can be annoying because you need to press the buttons multiple times to get to each alarm. It beeps each time you press a button and if my husband is sleep I’m afraid it’s disruptive to him.The most ANNOYING feature and what I dislike the most is that it displays the YEAR, for a full 10 seconds. The the time for 10seconds. I’m sorry but if I reach the the point where I don’t know the year’s day need such frequent reminders then I need to be institutionalized. I haven’t been able to figure out how to fix it to just the actual time but this makes me hate the clock. Tried to swap with my daughter but after a few days, she returned it to me for the same reason and spent her OWN $$$ on a new clock. That’s saying a lot. She’s 13 and does like to part with her cash easily.

... were a few things about this alarm that I liked. It looks really nice and seems well constructed
There were a few things about this alarm that I liked. It looks really nice and seems well constructed. The dimmable lights make it very easy to look at in a dark room. However, I ended up returning it because of the alarm feature. Currently I use my cell phone for my timer but want the cell phone out of my bedroom. My schedule requires me to wake up to an alarm most mornings but the time varies day to day. Easy to accomplish with the cell phone NOT with this alarm. The alarm clock requires you to go through all the settings to set an alarm. No easy way on the back of the clock to turn one alarm on or off without beeping your way through every setting. The instructions were very minimal so I am sure I am missing out on some of the features. There was a setting that I came upon while programing the clock that wasn’t even included in the instructions. This clock would be great for someone who doesn’t need an alarm clock or would wake up to the same alarm setting every day. I am going to keep looking for something that fits my needs better.

Too bright for us...
This clock did not work out well for us. (1) Even on the lowest brightness level we thought it was too bright. It illuminated the whole bedroom at night. We like a dark bedroom. (2) The "sound mode" mode requires too loud of a sound to wake up the display. Tapping the clock doesnt really work. A good hard whack is required. I was afraid of waking others just to see what time it was. (3) The "sound mode" (where the display goes blank until a sound is detected) only works when powered from batteries. When connected to a wall supply the display is always on (and too bright). I've returned the clock. If you don't mind bright clocks, then this one is a 5-star product.

incomplete instructions, but once you figure it out it works well.
At first I was disappointed in this clock, but most of my disappointment came from not knowing how to use it because the instructions are severely lacking. When I finally figured out that the last setting made it so the alarm only sounded on weekdays, it made it a worthwhile purchase. On the random days where I have to set a special alarm, it's a bit of a pain, since you have to cycle through all time/date/alarm settings to change any one thing. I do love that it's totally dark unless I want to see it. You do have to tap it pretty hard to get it to light up, but that's not a huge problem. It also has NO snooze feature, but that's a good thing as I'm trying to develop better habits.
