Ader Black Octagon Rubber Dumbbell Set with Rack

I bought these because of Quarantine- I live in California. I've been doing the Beach Body workouts- P90x. They work pretty well! They have a small order to them (I think because they are new), but otherwise, no scratches or anything. Easy to assemble, good weights to start out with. If I need to go heavier, I'll just order those heavyweights independently. A lot of dumbbells I looked at, don't come with a rack, so that was a plus. I'll update this review in 6mo to see how these dumbbells are holding up!Note: I'm an avid gym-goer, I lift pretty heavy, runner, and cyclist. For me, these weights are really good to keep the tone, until Covid-19 clears up.

Really like the set. The weights are nice, gym quality. The rack is solid, but did require shims when set up to balance it out (not due to the floor being uneven, just think of it like a wobbly restaurant table where the left and right side legs just don't align properly in height). The fact that the set doesn't come with 35 lbs and 45lbs dumbbells is a real downer as those are two sets I use quite a bit so will have to add them separately. But I knew that going in so it doesn't detract any stars. Also didn't detract stars for needing shims with the rack; let's face it, I bought for the weights not the rack.

The weights are great, however, they have an incredibly disgusting odor - it's been 6 weeks and the scent is terrible!

Work great. I mean they are weights! The rubber does smell as these will outgas and the smell will be gone soon.The rack is a little wobbly but for your home and would not be suited for a professional gym. Great seller too!

This set had exactly the size weights I was looking for and it included the stand.

For ease of reading, I've broken my rating down into subject areas:Dumbbell Quality: I'll start by saying that the dumbbells themselves are absolutely awesome! While they initially have a strong rubber odor that fills the room, they're actually really good! Oh yeah, and you'll need to wipe them down with towels because the black rubber has a little bit of oily substance on them that easily gets on clothing and workout bench surfaces. The durability is perfect and the grips are shaped to accommodate the contours of the palm.Rack: The rack was pretty easy to put together, however, it's really wobbly and I anticipate that it will eventually collapse. The two upright sides that meet at the top are flimsy metal and don't have a cross-member to join (stabilize) the two sides; the odd thing is that there are holes drilled for bolts to hold a cross-member. Because I felt my package probably should have had a cross-member, I contacted the vendor (more on them in a minute) and sent them a picture to ensure my construction was good. They confirmed there isn't a cross-member.Mat: The actual mat, if the vendor has it in stock, is pretty good. Provided I received the right one, I had to cut mine in half to make it look like it belongs with the rack...otherwise, it looks like it was designed for a weight bench.Customer Service: I'll try to keep my remarks limited to ensure you don't lose interest and miss the point that there's a lot to be desired here. My order was supposed to ship on the 10th of the month and I was notified on the 11th that they were out of the black mats and they offered me a blue mat; if that's not odd enough, they offered one that has two plastic handles on it. Because this was time sensitive for me, I immediately e-mailed the vendor back declining the offer and asked for a $50 credit instead so that I could inconveniently and expensively go to the sporting goods store to by my own. The vendor came back declining my offer and stated that the mat was basically a "free gift." I felt the vendor failed to recognize my point...it was inconvenient. The vendor eventually came back and said good news, the black mats are on order and that they will go ahead and ship my order and send me the map at a later date. The next day, they sent me a list of UPS tracking numbers implying that my order has shipped. When I checked the status of the tracking numbers through UPS, I found the orders haven't yet shipped....they deceivingly sent me numbers and hadn't shipped my product. I contacted the vendor and threatened to lodge a complaint with Amazon and they shipped my materials.Overall opinion: The weights are perfect, but the rack is very shaky and the customer service and vendor organization has a lot to be desired. My start rating is lower because of the rack and unorganized manner in which the company dealt with my order.Recommendation: I would recommend this set, but ensure ALL communications are done through Amazon channels for your protection...do not contact them by phone or by personal e-mail.

Just got this set. Putting home gym together and these were perfect. Shipped quickly too! I would recommend!
