I adopted an older cat and the vet told me that she would not recover as quickly from declawing as kittens do. This was the alternative to save my furniture and the dog's face. The vet charges $25 to put on a full set on the front paws. They are supposed to last 6-8 weeks. I bought these to replace them when they fall off. Only one did, and it was fairly easy to replace. So the nail caps and a corrugated cardboard catnip scented scratching pad (she still likes to go through the motions of sharpening her claws) have saved her the pain of surgery.

For some reason there is a marked size difference in the caps with sparkles than without despite them both being labeled as mediums. I found these to e somewhat difficult to put on since they were really a small and not a medium as advertised. I eventually just tossed them.

A little messy to use, since the application tips can't be resealed once opened, but that is my only negative comment. These don't affect extension or retraction of claws and my cat got used to them by the second day. She did pull several off the first night, but that's to be expected since it was her first time wearing them.As far as protecting furniture and scratches, they are great! And absolutely adorable!
