Findus Goes Camping (Findus and Pettson)

Sven Nordqvist's illustrations are just delightful! I've been purchasing these stories of Pettson and his cat Findus for my husband because we named our tiger cat Findus.

Sven Nordqvist, what a tremendously wonderful find for a children’s author. We have a no screen time home amd Waldorf homschool. My four year old loves this series particularly. We act out the ridiculousness of the stories throughout the day wheneve rthe fancy strikes him. It is relatable to children AND most wonderfully to adults as well. Not a book you get tired of telling to your child. The first time and subsequent times I find myself chuckling to the antics of the duo and their adventures. You find new illustrations every time you tell it and they are funny yet intelligent characters. Worth every penny for the entire collection.

The illustrations in the book are really fun and detailed. Unfortunately, the story is boring, confusing, and promotes telling a lie with no consequence or remorse. There is an imaginary scary fish in part of the story, but it makes no sense as to why it's there, or how the fear it creates for a little cat is resolved. In the end, a different main character makes up a story for the neighbor about his camping trip. His reasoning is that the neighbor is going to gossip about him so "he might as well have something good to talk about." Additionally, the language throughout the book is disjointed and poorly written. I would not recommend this book for any aged child.

Our family enjoys all of the Sven Nordqvist books and this book is no exception! Findus and Pettson have their silly moments, but underneath their muttering and misadventures, these two genuinely care for one another. This is not a simply captioned picture book, it is richly illustrated and the story is long and enjoyable. Very young children may not be able to get through the story in one sitting, but it is worth every minute. You will find yourselves returning to this, and other books by this author, for many years.

Pettson's cat Findus talks and the chickens do not...hard work and light-hearted play, this is one of a set of a charming number of books set on a farm in Sweden in more or less present day. The illustrations enchant my two little ones aged five and three so we have read this more times than is reasonable. Worth every penny. Or kronor.

LOVE these books! My three year old daughter loves these stories! Wish I could buy them all if they weren't all so pricey. Worth the delayed wait while it shipped from the UK.

This book would be wise wasted on kids

This is another charming story about the adventures of old Pettson and his cat Findus. The quirky illustrations are guaranteed to keep children entertained - even when they are a little too young to completely follow and understand the story-line. As the story-line is equally quirky and charming I think the adult reader will also enjoy reading it for the little ones. I know I do.

Bought for our grandchild, hope he likes it as much as we do.Pictures are great with little details which give lots of room for discussions with the little ones.
