These traps work!!!
What can I say, this product worked exactly as advertised.I had heard the rats in my ceiling for weeks before I started to notice bite marks in boxes of food in the pantry. It was a couple more weeks before I started to hear them scuffling around in the pantry. Then it was a matter of days before the first rat ran under my feet.In a panic, I browsed the internet looking for a solution and even considered hiring a professional exterminator. I am so glad I came across this product.I purchased a box of four traps, however, I only deployed three. The setup was fairly simple and straightforward. The first evening after I had deployed the traps I heard a loud snap while I was in bed. The next morning I found a rat with its tail poking out of the trap. I thought it was the only one but decided to leave the traps deployed anyway. I did not hear any snap that evening, but the following morning there was another rat with its tail sticking out of the trap. I disposed of that one and decided out of an abundance of caution to leave the traps deployed another night. The next morning there was no rat. However, when I returned from dropping my son off at school, I found a third rat in the trap.He must have come out after we left.I'm writing this on the afternoon of the 3rd morning. I don't know if I have any more rats or not, but I do know that if I do, these traps will take care of them.

The most effective rat trap yet!!
I have barn that I store my pig feed in and the initial cute occasional mouse has turned in hundreds of rats now, they have scared away every cat, they have no fear of pigs and use the glue from glue traps to gel their hair. Not even a CO2 automatic BB rifle stops these rats - but these traps do! I've tried the poisons - soluble and direct ingestion, the standard wood traps - small, large, XL - most of them disappear but these are nonstop pest removals. I check them every few hours and at least 3 of the 4 have caught a rat. I don't use the bait, I just place them in front of known holes or in their beaten paths with some wire to guide them and voila - a quick snapping sound, very low noise, and it's over for them. My personal best as of yesterday was 21 in a day - they literally get filled as soon as you reset the traps. This is by far the best trap I've used and they seem quite durable for everything from small to large squirrel sized rats! I've added them to subscribe and save as I need these in bulk now. These rats have gone through dozens of pig feed bags and I finally feel like I have a chance to reduce the threat!! They are the perfect size for even larger rats (8-9 inches). One suggestion, if you think it's a small rat, empty it into a bucket so you can deal with it if it was just caught in the trap, not terminated.

Works Great!
My wife and I were cleaning out the shed in our backyard when we noticed rat droppings. I purchased this trap and the very next morning there was a big fat rat in the trap. At first I thought the opening to the trap was kind of small for rats, but it worked. The next day I saw another rat in the trap. I will continue to set the trap until they are gone. These traps are super easy to set up and super easy to dispose of the body after they are captured. Great product.

They work very well!
The bottom line is they work! I have caught 5 rats (2 in December, 3 in March) since November, using bird seeds and peanuts as bait. They are easy to clean. I was expecting flesh and blood inside the trap, but after letting the rat drop out of the trap, there was not any noticeable flesh and blood on the jaws. Even so, I thoroughly washed them out with water spray and let them dry a few days before reusing them. The only downside is that you may also catch a baby rabbit in the trap (that happened to me once). Now I need to find bait that will attract the rats but not rabbits. The rats will try to escape after being caught and so the trap will move from the spot where you placed it, so you should make sure the trap will not be dragged someplace that is dangerous or where you would not want the trap to be.You should also check the trap on a regular basis (every 2-3 days) because the dead rat will attract flies, bugs, and/or worms (one of the rats that was caught had many tiny worms/maggots where the trap squashed its head). It is also great that they sell them 4 in a box since it is nice to be able to place them in a variety of places, though I have only been using two of them in the A/C covered area next to the garage near a hole in the ground (lower right corner in the first picture) that I believe is used by the rats.

GREAT FOR ROOF RATS, not mice
Works great for rats and sadly, unintended ground squirrel. However, will not trigger for mice. I caught 10 roof rats using peanut butter in bait trap. Then, mice moved in. They ate the PB bait without triggering. I tried oiling the spring to make more sensitive, yet still didn't trigger for the mice.Highly recommend for Roof rats. Love the release lever to dump X rat in the trash bin without touching it.

Simple, Clever & Reliable
Brilliant design and safe to use. I wasn't sure if it would be big enough for the little ground squirrels/chipmunks that have invaded our yard around the house, but that question was soon answered. It's just the right size. I did make a couple improvements though. As another review pointed out, it's not obvious from a distance if the trap has tripped. They recommended adding a piece of tape on the lever, which I did. My tape happens to be blue. Another comment I read was that the trap doesn't weigh much and can slide around. I fixed that by adding a couple #10 bolts to use as spikes to hold the trap in place. Works great! See pics.Peanut butter is working great for bait and you don't even have to replace it each time. Just empty the trap, reset it and wait for the blue tape to disappear again.Highly recommend.
