Mulucky is "my lucky" banjo. A good set up and it sounds great.
I read the notice that the package (not the banjo) had some damage but for the reduced price I ordered anyway. Well, the box was not a pretty sight and my wife said I should send it back: Glad that I did not listen to her this time. The box had damage but not the banjo. This is a really well made banjo with quality materials, however, it did need a setup. I have worked on guitars, dulcimers and mandolins so had an idea of what to do and the tools needed to complete the set up was with the banjo: Minus an open end wrench. Will change the strings to bring out the full potential for this well made and great looking banjoUse the bridge placement plastic aid to locate the bridge and most of what you need to do is done. I had to make small movements of the bridge to get the intonation (harmonic) set and left the pencil marks on the head for future reference.Looking at this banjo, if it did not have the word Mulucky on the head stock I would compare it to two more expensive banjos of same quality. Lesson here is, less expensive does not mean cheap.

A great open-back, full-size banjo.
I buy a lot of different instruments to custom-decorate and resell through Etsy. This is my go-to instrument in a quality open-back banjo at a very affordable price.

Decent beginner banjo for the price, garbage accessories
Is this an amazing quality banjo? Absolutely not. You get what you pay for. But it's decent enough to learn on. It's got a pretty good sound and looks nice. I wish it came with instructions on how to install the bridge, but with a little Googling, you can figure it out. However, the accessories are terrible. The strap I got looks nothing like the nice plain one in the picture. The one I got is a jarring pattern of puke green and orange. It's truly awful. And the finger picks also suck. The tuner turns on but doesn't pick up pitches properly at all.You might as well add some decent finger picks and a strap to your car with this banjo, and download a free tuner app.TLDR; Keep the banjo, put the accessories straight in the trash.

Much better banjo than I anticipated.
I ordered what I thought was going to be a cheap banjo to take with me to the woods camping, that I wouldn't be too sad if it gets a little beat up. (Because hey... It's the woods. Am I right?) This is definitely not the case. When I opened the box to inspect it, I was blown away with its beautiful finish. Besides the bridge it was completely set up and adjusted. I checked the pot tensioners and placed the bridge, and she tuned right up! Great tone and action! If you do order this banjo I would however recommend getting a nice set of strings too, because almost every instrument comes with cheap strings and this was no exception. The only bummer is now I have to take care of her because for the money you probably will not find a better banjo. Well done Mulucky! Very pleasantly surprised.

My favorite of 5 banjos
The media could not be loaded. Bought this on a whim because it was my fifth banjo, but it was cheap so why not check it out? I didn't expect it to become my favorite. All my other banjos cost more so they should be better, right? Well not this time.It rings clearer and warmer without tuning the head, and I have a head tuner. All my other banjo heads are tuned but I won't even touch this one. If it sounds good don't mess with it.These guys thought of everything to get you sounding like you're riding a bale of cotton on a steam packet. It's an absurdly good value.

Happily surprised
I wasn't too sure given the price, but I took a chance. I used to play banjo and know what they are supposed to feel like. I wanted an open back and took a chance on this one. Everything is great. The neck angle is fine. The action is comfortably low. I can play all the way up the neck without buzzing. My goal was to see if I wanted to pick up the instrument again, so I didn't want to invest much. This surpassed my expectations. The neck is smooth to my hand. The fret edges are filed smooth. The tuning machines hold well. There is a plastic measuring piece that sits on the neck so you can figure out where you should set the bridge. The bridge is one of the heaviest I have seen, but it does the job and sounds good. So that is the point. They don't tell you to put the angled side facing the fingerboard, so it took me a moment to remember that. That is to keep the bridge from tipping as you tune. There is a set of extra strings that was wound up so tight and unmarked I just tossed them. It would be hard for a beginner to figure out which string goes where. So if you are a beginner, pick up an extra set or two of strings to keep around. You will likely over tighten an pop a string. It happens to us all. The gigbag is a nice fit and they include the tools you might need to adjust the tension of the neck should you need to. But I did not need to. The tuner works. Overall it is an excellent beginners banjo. Throw the picks away. They are laughably bad. But I sort of expected them to be. I did not open the strap. So no comment on that.

Good banjo for the money...not perfect.
Great sound, nice setup. That's what counts.I'll live with the scars on the inside of the rim where the maple veneer was sanded away. There is a lighter colored wood showing through. That's ok, the sound is good and loud. I'll live with the strange maple looking veneer glued to the edge of the rim. It's not sticking in a few places. I'll get some super glue in there to fix it. The neck is beautiful with a nice fret job and binding. I like the shape of the neck - neither too thick or thin, just right. The peghead is the thinnest peghead I've ever seen on a banjo. It's probably sturdy but I plan on putting a peghead veneer on. And while I'm doing that I will install some $50 planetary tuners. The tuners that it came with are too close to the edge thus pinching my fingers when I tune it. Plus one of them is slipping already. For this price I knew they'd be junk. But I'm very happy with the hefty weight of the rim, the nice metal hoop, the brackets and the neck, and everything is nicely lined up, and a bone nut!! The bag's zipper was broken but I'll be getting a better bag or box for it. I'm glad I bought it, even with the quirks.

Great value instrument.
I had my doubts when trying to decide whether to buy this banjo or not but was delighted that I did when it arrived as it`s an amazingly good sounding banjo for the price. I am sure that any Clawhammer style player, whether beginner or advanced, would be delighted to own one. I had to take the bridge down a bit as it was a bit too high but that was no problem. Forget all the nic nacs, they are just there as an added incentive to get you to buy the instrument, main thing is, it sounds great, you can really make this instrument sing for you! Delighted with the purchase, thank you China.

leichtes Banjo mit tollem Aussehen
Tolles Starter-Set !

Nice instrument
As a guitar player I wanted to try the banjo, but like all quality instruments they are expensive. I decided to buy a more affordable instrument and chose the MuLucky 5 string open back model. On unboxing I was pleasantly surprised, the look and heft of the banjo suggested good quality and when I played it (or at it I should say) I was equally pleased. Not being a banjo player I'm unfamiliar with the nuances of sound as related to the cost/quality of individual instruments, but the MuLucky was crisp and clear and sounded to my admittedly untrained ear to be spot-on.It looks fantastic, feels and plays beautifully, stays in tune and sounds great, what more can one ask. I'm over the moon with my new possession, and looking forward to learning to play it.

Für das Geld gibt's nix zu meckern!
Ich suchte ein leichtes Zweitbanjo, das einfacher und sorgloser überall mitgenommen werden könnte als mein wundergeiles (aber auch sauschweres) Lieblingsgerät. Also nun dieses hier.Open back, made in China, Rücklauf-Ware.Dementsprechend waren die Erwartungen nicht die höchsten. Aber sieh da. Ein RICHTIGES Banjo! Alles dran und sogar richtig brauchbar eingestellt! Brücke aufgestellt (tolles Schablonentool!), Saiten gespannt und gestimmt, los geht's. Kein fretbuzz, kein Scheppern, sehr vertretbarer Ton, Bundreinheit stimmt.
