The most accurate translation of the Genesis gameplay into a tabletop setting
Genuinely blown away by how accurate this all is to the actual games, considering it's taking high speed platforming and momentum-based physics of the video games and translating it into a turn based dice rolling tabletop game. You have Acts to maneuver through, items, power ups, badniks, beating all the Acts in a Zone unlocks the boss fight, and you have a whole campaign of 4 Zones to get through. You even get access to a special stage, which is mind blowing. Really the only complaints I have is that all the cards and setting up every Zone can be a lot, but then having to reshuffle the special zone cards takes so much time. Really that's the one major complaint I have with this game, is it can take a while to get through, even when everyone knows what they're doing. That being said, me and the two friends I ran a campaign with had a blast, and while we were kinda running out of steam by the end, the secret unlockables we got from getting all the Chaos Emerald cards made it so so worth it. Oh yeah. Unlockables. This tabletop game has secret unlockables. I'm still absolutely blown away by this fact. I'm aware now that this isn't the first tabletop game to have secret unlockables hidden away in the box for when you reach a certain point in the game, but my god, the feeling of discovering all the cool stuff we unlocked at the end was just so incredible. I'm so glad I got to experience that with friends. I'm not sure how likely it is, but the way this game is made makes it very easily to add more content to, so I'd really love to see expansion packs released sometime in the future. You could easily release new Zones, new playable characters, since they're all confined to a handful of cards. I'm planning to curate some new cards for the game myself for personal use, but man I'd love to see some official expansion packs for the game. Anyway, yeah! Had a great time with it. Has some places it could improve on, but overall a damn good time.

A High-Quality Licensed Game
This is a shockingly good licensed board game that's appropriate for both Sonic fans and serious board game enthusiasts. Despite the gameplay itself being a bit "slow", it still brings out the Sonic experience and feels very much like a Sonic Mania tie-in. The mechanics are simple once you've had maybe one full game to get used to them. A Sonic tie-in board game really has no business being this good, it's definitely not a cheap cash-in on the license at all.

Great for Sonic Fans
My family love this game, the sonic theme does a lot of the heavy lifting though. At its core its a dice rolling and matching game although it is a little complex for most children. My son is younger (6) and plays a lot of strategy board games and I had to walk him though most of his turns. I do think the only reason he stayed invested is because he loves sonic. As an adult I did enjoy the game also, obviously there is luck with any dice rolling games but I also felt that I had interesting choices.

A ton of fun to be had, but I would start at the teenage level for learners. Dice rollers rejoice!
Do you remember 40k cultist and that you would need a bucket of dice for all your figures? Well this isn't that bad, but there is certainly a lot of dice rolling. It is a dice game. Each character has their own respective dice pools, and though some characters maybe fast (Sonic) there are other with different abilities that bring forth a challenge to keep everyone engaged. The game is fast paced, but has a learning curve that will keep you flipping through the pages till you got the hang of things. Dice can be rerolled for buffs and additional actions. With only 4 zones I was worried about the replayability, but fear not, with all the characters and options playing the game over and over will give you different results. Played through with my daughter 11, and son 14 and it took sometime, but as we are all fans of Sonic it was worth it. Rules are well written, but there are plenty and there is no streamlined options. Take a look at video reviews and a playthrough now available freely on the world's most populated video site and it will help to digest the rules quicker. This is a premium game with high quality components. Each die pip is fully colored in, and nothing feels cheap nor flimsy. Chits are thick, insert is nice, cards are printed clearly and well done. Supports single player for all those soloist (I too play solo, but with complex wargames). Makes an excellent gift and a pretty good value compared to other premium games. Everything needed is included in the box.

Nice Sonic-Themed Board Game
Fans of Sonic, rejoice. Or at least, get happy. And you should like board games, too; that would help a lot of course. This throwback to the old days of Sonic (at least it's that for me, as it reminds me of my days with my old Sega system and the original Sonic The Hedgehog console game) is actually quite fun. You or up to three of your friends also (from 1-4 players, so the solo mode is nice) are tasked with making your way through Sonic 'zones' (you can play through one or all of them in a Campaign) to save friendly creatures and defeat the ubiquitous Dr. Eggman. Whom happens to, of course, be a bad guy. You roll dice and utilize character abilities to defeat things that get in your way and collect rings (of course!) and other power ups. To defeat a zone, you have to beat an end boss - very much part of the old console game experience, because you never beat levels without beating a boss first! I ordered this solely for the solo play and it's quite enjoyable in that regard. Highly recommend!

Wow, amazing components & fun gameplay!
I love video and board games, and especially games that cross over between the two forms. This game captures the magic of the original Sonic The Hedgehog game on the old Sega Genesis, but in tabletop form. The first thing I noticed is that this is a heavy and full box! Unlike many games today that have a few light components in a large box, this one is jam packed with game components. I truly couldn't believe what a great variety of dice, tokens, cards, and game boards were included! There's even an entire small expansion hidden underneath the main plastic components insert. The instruction manual is clear and comprehensive. It took us a few play-throughs to get the hang of it, and younger kids will likely need some assistance at first. But it really does feel like you're enjoying the magic of the Sonic video game, yet in a fun interactive tabletop form. This game is an excellent value for all that it includes and is definitely earning a spot on my shelf of favorite games.
