Unusual and interesting science cufflinks - great gifts for science geeks. A solution of pure ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) was evaporated on a microscope slide to form crystals. By viewing these crystals using polarised light microscopy, amazing and interesting colours and patterns are seen. This is due to the crystals forming regular arrays and interfering with the light path to give the colours seen (no colours were changed using Photoshop). Silver plated cufflinks with a glass dome. The image has been printed onto glossy metal which is sealed underneath a glass magnifying dome which means there are reflections from both the metal and the glass resulting in the image having more 'depth'. Cufflinks measure 18mm across (16mm glass dome) and 25mm deep (from the back of the swivel mount to the front of the glass dome). Supplied in a gift box complete with a description of the image.
