The best album of the 90s - yes I went there
RFTC were a minor satellite in the mid 90s punk scene that exploded all over MTV. Offspring, Green Day, Rancid and the bosstones all released brilliant albums in this period but this, oh my this, is on a different level altogether. The opening 8 minutes are a bludgeon of fast, hard melodic punk that has yet to bettered. The opening faceripper of Middle segues into the Horned up born in 69 which mutates to the Covid 19 level catchiness of On a Rope which shimmers into the punk balladry of Young Livers. The rest of the album bounces between these 4 standards with barely a drop in quality. They would try their hands at the more mainstream sound with RFTC before scaling the heights again with the ferocious Group Sounds and X-ray. Reis would also bash out a couple more classics under the Night Marchers banner. Buy em all!

What an opening!
The first four songs hit you like four big powerful things, one after the other. You're left dazed and confused. It's a thrill shaker! It's a spill maker! It's....ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT! AARRGH!

Dont Take Life To Serious
What a good Album this one is. Most people who know of the band Will of heard the Song "On A Rope" What Features on this LP. It was the song that really got into everyones head. The Band along with the album show a Light side to punk/rock whilst keeping the music original and clever. Showing that you can still have fun in rock music (Something most modern bands dont relise). Anyone out their who likes good music that is clever and that aint to serious should Buy this Cd, Or anything by the Band really I can Not Explain How Much You will Enjoy This LP.

START HERE if interested in Rocket From the Crypt
This album has the throwback sounds that compliment their early work, and it's songcraft is as advanced as the band gets. Any album after Scream Dracula Scream! might be great, but not as great as this. And any album predating SDS won't be as complete. This is coming from a guy who has gleefully followed the band since 1994. If you want a more "produced" sound, go for RFTC or maybe Group Sounds. If you need it more raw, The State of Art is on Fire, or Circa Now, or maybe Hot Charity. If you want it all...it's all about SCREAM DRACULA SCREAM!Update: if you’re under 20 years old you probably wanna start with “Live From Camp X-Ray.” Super underrated record with their most accessible and digestible sound and structure. And no, it’s not a live album, just a poorly titled bookend to their beautiful career.
