I hope I just got a bad one... (but I'm bumping it up anyway)
New Review:A couple months ago, I received the original drive I talk about in the review below. It died on me while on-site doing time-sensitive work, and I ultimately decided to give ADATA another chance and get another UE700 flash drive in a direct replacement. The new drive has been significantly better. Yes, it is still plastic. I uploaded pictures of the serial number/UPC in case someone with an aluminum one can confirm that they're the same or not. But it is, 100%, still plastic. It's dyed, not painted/anodized, and when scraped does not reveal the 'metal' underlying the surface. That all said, while I babied the drive for some time (worried it would lose files again), I'm beginning to become more reliant on it. It's been pretty good so far. The slider to expose the drive plug had broken in a bit and become very smooth (but not too much), and it's been just as fast as it was when I got it. I've only received the "format drive" error once since I got the new one, and I use it pretty frequently. So it's not a bad drive. (knock on wood)However, that does not change the fact that the drive was/is sold with the price of a high-end drive that would be commonly associated with higher material costs (ie: metal usage). I like the drive, but if I knew it was plastic ahead of time and was still over 20 bucks, I would not have purchased it.But yes, it is slim, and it has been fast. I noticed Amazon updated their page to remove the "aluminum" mention, so I'm happy. If it still suits your speed needs and slim demands (something hard to find in drives), and you don't mind the price, then have at it!=============================Original Review:First thing I noticed is, instead of a nice aluminum housing, I got plastic. Textured plastic, sure, but it is 100% black plastic, and doesn't feel supremely durable, either. The slider clicks into position and it is very resistant to pushing out, and in, from the housing, but it almost feels like it's that way because the housing is just barely large enough. In any case, I was using it at work today (first real use other than putting my info on a .txt file on it), and the speeds were fast! 200MB files transferred almost instantly on SS-marked USB ports, and my 2GB software I was loading went around 100+ MB/s read. It was nice......and then it started getting strange. I religiously eject the drives properly, but it started giving me "You must format this drive before you use it" errors. I would try another PC just to make sure it wasn't that laptop, but to no avail. I had to reformat the drive 3 times, and then it stopped responding at all. When you plug it in, it does nothing. No blinking, no connection, nothing.I'm exceptionally disappointed in this drive right now, and ADATA for making my work day hell going through some very backwards processes to get the laptops I was working on loaded up. I'm debating getting a direct replacement, or just finding another option. I'm perfectly okay with paying a premium for a flash drive... the speed and quality is important to me. But when I pay 5-10 bucks more on a 16GB drive that claims it has an aluminum casing and lifetime warranty only for it to die on the job and be made of plastic, I can't help but want to avoid the brand entirely.

Fast, Slim, Mostly Metal Exterior
The good:> fast memory. I didn't do precise speed tests, but performance is noticeably faster than other 64GB USB drives in my library> slim design: not as thick as most thumb drives, so storage (in a pocket or collection) takes less space> aluminum outer shell seems strong and less likely than plastic to crack if dropped> ships with a short lanyardThe not so good:> between the two metal halves of the outer shell is a plastic layer, and it is within this plastic layer that the thumb tab for the USB connector resides. Extension and retraction of USB connector is stiff. I purchased two of these 64GB drives and both have this stiffness. It may be that with use they will loosen up. The lock mechanism, however, works well; so, when extended the connector does not tend to go back into the casing -- it stays put. Some may view this issue as a plus. Would have been 5 stars for me with smoother operation of the USB connector.

Bought this just for GTA V...
I bought this flash drive simply to load the "play disc" of GTA V since the mandatory install disc was loaded to my Xbox 360's hard drive. It worked great for this purpose! As far as read speeds go, I haven't had any issues while playing the game for hours at a time and now my CD drive is quiet while I play. From the xbox dashboard after I hit A to start the game, the game use to load in 86 seconds off the play disc but with it loaded to this flash drive, it loads in 65 seconds now....Keep it mind this USB stick is 3.0 and the Xbox 360 is only capably of USB 2.0 speeds, so if cost is an issue you might want to look for a USB 2.0 flash drives with at least a 15MB read speed. I wanted to be on the safe side for read speeds, which is why I bought this one. Also, if you buy this flash drive to load GTA V on a Xbox 360 like I did, make sure you get the 16GB one. A 8GB one will NOT have enough space for the game after it's been formatted by the Xbox.

Nice and flat and not bulky
After having reliability issues with a few other well known brands, I decided to try Adata. This is my fourth Adata going bigger every time I get a new one. After several years of using them every day had zero problems. The case is definitely not plastic. It's two aluminum outer layers and a plastic inner layer. The hook loop is part of the inner plastic layer and would be stronger if it was made of aluminum. I installed the supplied lanyard and plenty strong for me. I transport two of them in my pocket every day. Nice and flat and not bulky. I wouldn't subject it to a key ring with keys. The UE700 is thin and flat nice for hanging on your neck or in your pocket. My 64GB UE700 is several years old used every day and is fast, durable and most important very reliable. My new one is 128GB and faster than the 64GB if it stays as reliable as the rest, I'll remain a happy camper and Adata customer for life

Great drive
I'm not gonna bother posting too many specs but here's what I got:-Some fluxuation depending on file sizes and types-Different fluxuation depending on computers (one was using Windows 8 and speeds were ~40-50 MB/s if I remember correctly, one was Windows 7 and it was about 30MB/s)I haven't had much diversity in terms of computers I've used it in.-I've had speeds up and around 100MB/s-Sometimes it "siezes up" around the last few files and stalls but eventaully finishes-I honestly don't like the sliding mechanism. I wish it were like their other models like the UV128/64GB that I have.-I really bought this for the preformance upgrade. My UV128 was only topping around 30MB/s if even.-I only used USB 3.0 for these-The Amazon listing is wrong for the R/W speeds. They are not 190/45 MB/s, the image with the packaging is correct at 220/135 MB/s.

Somewhat expensive, but worth it.
Performs extremely well on USB3 and(somewhat slower) on USB2.

incorrect assumption of user guide
When I first used this USB, while inserting the USB head into the laptop USB slot, the USB head kept retracting itself back into the USB container, making it difficult to properly insert the USB. But later, I found out that the slider on the side of the USB needs to be pushed totally all the way until it locks itself making the USB head sturdy, allowing it to be inserted easily & steadily into the laptop USB slot. To retract, simply push on the slider & retract it. All is good now, works as expected.

Excelente dispositivo
