Hoop Dreams: Modern Hand Embroidery Hardcover – April 24, 2018

I'm picking up embroidery again after several years of taking a break. I love that this book has illustrations and pictures to show you the stitches. It makes it much easier to copy and practice my stitches. Plus I like how it includes other crafts so you can put a couple of easy projects together to make something fun. I have already started working on some to personalize some store bought gifts.

Bought this for a friend who does embroidery but enjoyed looking through it myself first! Lots of cute, trendy patterns and plenty of instructions about the fundamentals. There were a ton of different project ideas that challenged you to bring your embroidery to other mediums than the traditional fabric wall hanging.

This is a great book! It has helped me so much with learning hand embroidery. I love all the patterns and ideas it comes with and it is written well. The instructions make sense and the pictures are great! I love that it has iron on patterns to help you get started too. I you are new to hand embroidery, I couldn't recommend this enough!

Fantastic book. It's not only beautifully photographed and laid out, but I am super excited to use the designs. I am a beginner in the world of embroidery, but I'm loving it so far and this book is really helpful. One star off because, as other reviewers mentioned, the "iron-on" transfers in the back are not iron-on. They're just printed on paper. I guess it's nice to have some designs printed on loose paper, but I can easily do that myself with my computer/printer. I was really hoping for iron-on as described so that I wouldn't have to use my light box or a window. I sent the author a message about this issue but have not gotten a response yet.

I am beyond thrilled to have this book. So many different projects and activities of all levels. I recently got into embroidery and I am so eager to learn more and finding this book was an absolute gem. There’s iron ons that come with the book and full step by step guides. I also like how clear cut the beginning is. I knew a few things but learned a few things aswell and it was laid out a lot clearer than most books. It was short and sweet to the point.

I bought this used and it is as good as new! So happy with the quality and am looking forward to getting back into embroidery. Thank you.

This gorgeous book is full of modern embroidery projects! The writing and projects are very accessible for even beginner embroiderers (me!) and would appeal to more experienced emroiderers as well. The full size pattern sheets are great to have and can be used with a number of transfer methods outlined in the book. I’m an experienced seamstress wanting to delve into the embroidery world and this book is the ticket. I’ve just made my first project, the pendant, and can’t wait to embroider some of my handmade clothing by following the instructions for the floral jacket.

I loved following along with this book, and have done my own spin on some of the ideas, especially with the bees and flowers!

This book is so beautiful and inspiring! I have used it so many times already to learn a stitch or create my own designs. It’s fun to just read or to conjure ideas or to use the patterns. I love it!
