Should have bought this a long time ago. Performed just fine for tuning 2cycle engines

This is a must have tool for DIY's home mechanics for tune ups, carb rebuilds or replacements or throttle cable replacement when confirming your at the Manufactures recommended optimal idle and full throttle RPM operation for 2 or 4 cycle motors.

This is a must have if you work with small engines. I was finally able to fine tune an old Tecumseh-powered snow-blower that I've had for years. Works just as it should. It tells me the current RPM accurately. It's more sensitive when connected with the wire but just as good when the unit is hovering close to the ignition wire.

It works really good

Did an engine swap and wanted to check engine RPM based on throttle cable. This thing worked great with and without the wire. just held the tachometer nice and close to the spark plug, and gave a clear readout with minor fluctuations.

Great tach! I am recently retired and beginning to service small engines to keep busy. This tach is outstanding. Allows me to properly set idle and max speeds on 2 and 4 stroke motors quickly, accurately, and with great reliability! If you're in the market - get this tach!

Unit arrived in smashed box. Open. Unsealed. Instructions folded up like a fortune cookie. The unit was not in the bubble wrap sleeve. The unit was likely returned. Very UN-impressed with the construction and quality of the plastic for the price. I would not be surprised if it does not work correctly, but time will tell when I test it next day. I hope it works and it better for this price and construction. Update. It work fine on one cylinder engine like snow blower It did not work well on my old 4cylinder Tractor. The values are too erratic. No matter where induction was used. The induction cable did not work at all. I suspect the unit it not defective as much as it really not suited for 4cyl engines as if it worked with 1cyl the induction must be working. There is also no setting for number of cylinders. So I can see how the unit could get confused as the results would fluctuate indicating sometimes it calculated tractor was single cyl. AKA 1/4 RPM values and then jump back up the realistic idle value. Another update. I decided to order another unit. This one arrived shrink wrapped and was never opened. Now I know for sure the fist unit as a return and broken. This time the induction cable actually works. In testing it works perfectly on single cylinder engines For the four cylinder engine. It reads each cylinder perfectly as well but did not detect the engine was a four cylinder even with proper settings at each cylinder. The instruction state induction probe should be positioned near cluster of all cables. I was able to get a realistic reading sporadically of all four detected. I have some additional questions. I sent a message to vendor but no response. I want this to work as I am unable to get a reading off the main pully via optical.

Works well. I had to make a little label to allow me to remember the right settings for 2- and 4-cycle engines.

Happy with tachometer , but they should have made it easier to change the battery, they soldered the battery in, not sure what battery is needed to replace it, also for the money I paid for it, should of come with a case for it, it was a bit pricey, 119.99 Canadian and 25.80 for shipping and when I got it from the US they said I had to pay another 18.21, should of let me know I had to pay more when ordering from the USA. I didn’t take the plastic off the screen yet so the screen looks a little weird.

Quit working after a few months of use. Now it only reads 3000rpm whether an engine is idling or at full speed.
