Let's do the time warp.. Forwards..
An interesting take on a cult classic, I like the new takes on some of the songs, I haven't yet seen the TV event, but being a fan of Rocky Horror for a number of years I knew I needed to check this out - My favourite "new" version is Sweet Transvestite, without seeing it (so I'm not sure how this comes across) but it feels like something Diana Ross could have done with the Supremes, it definatly has a Motown feel to it.

Cardboard sleeve!!! Not even plastic !!
Great songs, standouts though are Adam Lambert and Ivy Levan . It would have been nice for the signatures under the disc holder to be visible by way of a pullout but REALLY? a card sleeve?!?!?!

Tim Curry is in scene stealing form in this camp cult musical classic
On a dark rainy night, the newly engaged clean-cut wholesome couple, Brad Majors and Janet Wiss set out to meet their former college teacher, Dr. Scott who has become a friend to them both. On the way they find themselves stranded outside the gothic home of the cross-dressing, mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Accompanied by his wayward, oddball servants, he introduces Brad and Janet to his latest scientific creation, the pinnacle male specimen and the embodiment of masculine sexuality Rocky. However, as the night wears on Brad and Janet find themselves sucked into Frank N' Furter's hedonistic lifestyle, and Rocky let loose to roam the confines of his creator's lair, all find themselves at the whims of the outlandish madman's sexual pleasures.Based on the musical stage show The Rocky Horror Show with its music, lyrics, and book written and composed by British actor, writer, and musician Richard O'Brien when he was an unemployed actor living in London in the 70s. A fan of science fiction and B horror movies, Rocky Horror was his camp, flamboyant homage to the genre, imbuing it with kitsch humor and portentous dialogue. Essentially it appealed to the glam rock sensibilities of its era with its outlandish ostentatiousness. Shot at Bray Studios and Oakley Court, a country house near Maidenhead, Berkshire, England, and at Elstree Studios, it was produced on a meager budget of $1.4 million. Australian director Jim Sharman utilized the ominous aesthetics of it to sublime effect, capturing the old haunted house feel associated with classic horror movie tropes.Starring a young Susan Sarandon who would arguably be her career-creating role along with Barry Bostwick, Tim Curry, and Meatloaf. The movie instantly demands your attention with its iconic title sequence with a pair of floating disembodied lips welcoming the audience to a science fiction double-feature. It features Charles Gray, playing a Criminologist rather than the narrator who featured in the original stage musical, who provides commentary on events as they unfold. It's no short of an exaggeration to say that the movie is jam-packed full of memorable songs from The Timewarp to Sweet Transvesite. Kitsch as it is camp, it's cast ham proceedings up with panache, with Tim Curry in scene-stealing form as the transvestite mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Camping it up for all his worth. While Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon portray the squeaky clean, naive Brad and Janet who are emblematic of small-town clean-cut Americana.Adhering to the tropes of 50s B movies, the movie has them traveling to meet their old college tutor Dr. Scott only to have their car get a flat tire during a dark, rainy night. They make their way to a dark castle where they encounter its wayward inhabitants which include the butler Riff Raff, Magenta who is the maid, and a groupie named Columbia as well of course Frank N Furter, who on that very night is about to give life to his tall, muscular, handsome blonde creation named Rocky. Taking its cue from Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. As far as the plot goes, there's no sense in attempting to work out what's going on, suffice to say it's weird as it is wonderful. Director Jim Sharman keeps things going at a breakneck pace. Sexually provocative as it is charged, it's a flamboyant celebration of the absurd. It never loses any momentum for one second. The Rocky Horror Picture Show has proven iconic as it has been seminal and is a landmark in movie history, and one of the most inspired crowning movie achievements of the 20th Century. It would be followed by the lackluster 1981 pseudo-sequel Shock Treatment which would fail to capture the magic of its predecessor. Proving it to be one of a kind that could not be bettered.
