CAP Barbell 150 LB Coated Hex Dumbbell Weight Set with Vertical Rack | Multiple Options

Idk why but the weights with colored rack is like $20-$30 cheaper than black rack so of course I jumped on the cheaper version. Everything from CAP is top tier so going cheaper isn't a bad thing here. First the Dumbbells: Great weight, weighted just as described (going off of memory from gym times) and plentiful. Only thing I didn't like was the out of factory oil that was on them but a towel and a few disinfectant wipes and they're right as rain. They did also come with the new factory smell but that didn't bother me personally. I knew once out of package the smell starts to dissipate. The Rack: As I said, the colored racks are cheaper than standard black (idk why) so choose whichever color you'd like. I went with red. A bit annoying to put together because extra tools are required but once put together its great. Lightweight yet strong. Comes with rubber guards to protect your hands from getting nicked when taking weights on and off of the rack. For the amount of weight and the rack you get for the price, its perfect for any home gym. Gyms are starting to get expensive and crowded so you're better off making a home gym. This'll be a great addition to it. No need to spend an arm and a leg for a set of dumbbells. CAP got you covered. For the price of the Dumbbells and Rack, its about an entire month or even 2 months worth of your gym membership and you get to keep the weights so think about it.

The weights themselves are great. Very solid, nice handles, good materials. For the price, this a really great set of weights and it’s great having the 5 lb. increments. The rack was easy to put together, looks great, and doesn’t take up much space at all. The first downside is the smell when they arrive. I knew about this from other reviews so i unboxed them outside, rubbed them down with a dish rag using soapy water, and let them stay outside (under a covered area) for a few days. They still have a smell up close now but they don’t stink up the room like they would have. The bigger downside that I don’t have any solution for is the width of the rack hooks. They are made to hold the weights at a good spot on the handles, but that makes them more narrow than your hand. When I pull them out, I can only grab them with 3 fingers and when I put them back I have to kindof toss them in a bit or risk pinching parts of my hand against the hook. (see pictures) Given all of that, I’m taking off half a star for the rack width because, as long as you clean them well when you get them, they are otherwise a great set and well worth the cost.

I purchased the orange rack - 1) because orange is my favorite color, and 2) because it was also the cheapest. I've have needed some heavier weights for a while, and I really wanted some hex weights. Getting the full set with a rack that allows you to store them efficiently is a plus. Weights (and gym equipment in general) have been so expensive since the pandemic. I was thrilled to get this full set for what I consider a bargain price (probably about 50% of the cost of similar sets) with free shipping. the set came in 4 boxes over two days - I sure felt bad for the delivery guy! The weights are packaged so that 3 of the boxes each holds 50 lbs (2 X 25, 2 X 20 + 2 X 5, and 2 X 15 + 2 X 10). The 4th box contained the rack parts with instructions and tools to put it together. I had it assembled in about 20 minutes, and it's perfectly sturdy to hold all these weights. The weights felt slightly oily out of the box and had a faint odor (chemical? plastic? metal?), but the odor is quickly dissipating. They are perfect hex weights - well balanced and grippy without being too rough on your palms. I did not check the weights themselves to make sure they are exactly correct on poundage - they seem close enough, and that's all I need. I've already used everything but the 5's - and I'll get around to them eventually too.

These are nice quality dumbells and look great in my weight room. Putting the rack together was a breeze. didn't have an issue with the oder some of the customers were talking about.

The only thing you need to know about this is that this is the best value for dumbbells. You won't be able to find a better price with coated hex dumbbells. I scoured the internet, and even with coupon codes during sale times, these are unbeatable. So with that said you are getting a set of dumbbells with a free stand. Dumbbells - they're dumbbells. Knurling is good, didn't see any areas of concern. Only time will tell whether these last. As others mentioned, they smell bad. That should go away with time. Stand - Poorly executed. While easy to assemble and holds all the dumbbells, it makes it very awkward to get them out because the holder is narrower than the width of an adult fist. This means that it's hard to take them in and out. It also could have used a little more weight at the base. Regardless, this is a must buy for any home gym, you can't beat the price for what you're getting.

The rack was fairly easy to put together, but I was disappointed that I had to dig out additional tools for assembly. After reading how other reviewers mentioned a fresh rubber smell, I made sure to wipe down the weights when I was opening the packages. After a few days I no longer noticed the smell

Amazing product and company. A bolt broke while I was putting it together. I reached out to CAP they sent me a replacement right away. Love this company. Almost every piece of equipment in my home gym is CAP great brand.

These were a gift for my wife, and she regularly says how much she like them. The weights have great size and shape and are of excellent quality. The stand is sturdy and compact, the only nitpick is that the weight holders are slightly narrow so you have to look and position your fingers to grab the weight handle, as others have mentioned. (Hopefully a future version makes them an inch wider.) Some weights arrived damaged but CAP customer support promptly resolved the issue and was a pleasure to deal with.

Excellent product. I was surprised at the quality of the weights that i received. Having worked with heat press molding I can attest to the quality and appearance. The ergonomic chrome handles are also of excellent quality. I read a lot of reviews mentioning the odor. I was prepared to leave them outside for a day or two. Absolutely not necessary. You have to get the rubber pretty close to your nose for it to be strong. Strangely enough it is the protective rubber on the rack that has the strongest odor. Overall the smell is negligible to nothing. You cant smell it just walking into the room. It fits perfectly in my limited space garage gym. The regular price is competitive. The sale price offered a "I can't afford not to buy it" scenario. On a final note; the I ordered these on July 10 and my Amazon order page said delivery by August 1. The shipment came in two parts. Three boxes on Monday July 14 & the 4th box the next day on the 15th. Extremely fast shipping. Highly recommend

Ordered on a late Monday night and the 2x25lb package came Wednesday morning and the remaining 3 packages came Thursday morning, a day before scheduled Friday date. No problem with the order and the rack took 15 minutes to assemble using the supplied hex wrench and my 13mm socket. Very little oil on the weights and a light WD40 type smell that went away after a quick wipe with warm soapy water. Not sure what the fuss is about from some regarding the smell. Maybe too much soy in the diet. Was thinking of purchasing the adjustable weights but do like a more traditional approach and feel to free weights. Wasn’t interested in trying to fit the weights into slots after reps going to failure either. One of the best products I have purchased in my lifetime using strength equipment along side my near 20 year old Bowflex machine that has been used an average of 3x weekly and still looks and feels almost brand new. Take care of your tools and they will take care of you. Overall A+ for the entire process and product. I’m 61, feel great and when younger women see me and say, “Tai Chi?” I will respond, “No, CAP 150 LB coated Hex dumbbell weight set.”

My order came a day in advance! The shipment was wonderful - I received my entire order. There is an odour to the equipment, but nothing unmanageable. The smell should improve once you air the weights out. One thing to note is you will require tools to assemble the dumbbell rack. It’s very compact / doesn’t take up much space. Perfect for a home gym. Happy with this product; would recommend for the price

The smell is awfull. I’ve put them outside for a month after receiving them to let the smell go and it didn’t change anything. You can’t let them near a living area, the toxic smell is way too intense. The quality is good thought.
