Best e-reader - better than Kindle
Absolutely love my Kobo e-reader! It's a pleasure to read with. It's small and portable while still having a large enough screen to read from (bigger than a cell phone). The e-ink screen is much easier on the eyes than a cell phone or tablet screen. And I much prefer the Kobo ecosystem to Kindle - you're not locked in like you are with Kindle, and it's very supportive of sideloading books (such as with Calibre) and borrowing books via Overdrive/Libby is super easy. Highly recommend!

Great ereader
I don’t typically leave reviews but I love this ereader too much not to. I’m going away for a trip and needed a way to take books with me. Being able to adjust the size of text and brightness as well as the light weight of it makes reading so much more enjoyable. The battery life is great and I’ve even taken it in the shower with me. UI can be a touch slow but that’s part of the sacrifice with such a long battery life. Not usually noticeable when reading only a bit in menus. I’ve been reading so much more since getting it, I wish I would have gotten one sooner.

Lightweight, friendly, easy to use. A real eReader when you want an alternative.
I am free from the tyranny of Kindle's ecosystem. After Amazon killed their own proprietary eBook format I had hoped they would adopt an open platform that maximized user control and freedom. I have found freedom. Kobo let's you side-load with ease both officially and through 3rd party add ons. This eReader is a joy to use. The auto backlight is perfectr. The ease of organizing collections is excellent. The smooth Calibre integration is all a power user could hope for. If you want eBook freedom Kobo gives it to you.

Nice e-reader!
I have used Kindle readers for quite some time, and decided to try something different since the reviews were so good, and I'm not disappointed. This reader is far snappier than any of the Kindle's I've had over the years. Compared to my current Kindle (2020 Sage Paperwhite) this is miles ahead - fast page turns, super-fast downloads, much less cluttered interface, good battery life, and better power button location. Clearly, a 4-year-old Kindle (even a Paperwhite) is not a fair comparison, but given the unattractive color options for the currently available Paperwhite (the new models have just been released - metalic finish likely to scratch easily) I thought the time was right to experiment, and I have no regrets what-so-ever. I like the light-weight and the much lower cost (129 USD v.s. 200 USD for a Paperwhite) This weighs significantly less than my 2020 Paperwhite and has the same display size. The only thing this lacks is the inability to access Amazon ebooks, but given that almost all publishers set their selling prices, you can get the same books from Kobo at the same prices (except those published by Amazon) No issues with library connection, no issues with side-loading books from my library (expect for those I bought from Amazon), and a much cleaner user interface. If you have a massive Amazon ebook library, this may not be the best option for you. Some publishers do specify no DRM, which allows you to read on whatever device you prefer rather than being locked into the seller's system) but if you borrow from the library regularly or obtain ebooks from a variety to sellers and not just Amazon, this is worth a try. It's like a standard Kindle with much better features at the same price. I'm considering replacing my 2020 Paperwhite with a standard Kindle, since those at least come in a color that I would not be embarrassed to use in public, but only because the speed and weight of this reader are so much better that it makes me sad to go back to the old Paperwhite to read books that are locked into Amazon's system.

perfect lightweight ereader with fantastic screen
I absolutely love the Kobo Clara BW. The 6-inch screen is incredibly sharp, and the glare-free display makes it feel just like reading actual paper, even in direct sunlight. It is extremely lightweight and comfortable to hold for hours, and the battery life is insane—it seriously feels like it lasts almost forever on a single charge. One of my favorite features is how easy it is to sideload and add my own books directly onto the device without any hassle. Something that I cannot do with my Kindle. The ComfortLight PRO is also a game-changer for night reading, automatically shifting to a warmer tone so it doesn't strain my eyes. If you want a dedicated, distraction-free reading experience, this is easily one of the best options out there.

I LOVE MY KOBO - so small and cute and PERFECT
I love my Kobo!!! I was stuck deciding btwn a Kindle and a Kobo and I am SO happy with my choice of Kobo. I had a Nook as a kid but I wasn’t doing much heavy reading back then. Flash forward to now and I’ve reignited my love for reading, but felt it was difficult due to either comfort, lighting, weight of books, etc.. but the Kobo solves all of that!! It’s so much smaller and lighter than I expected but I love that. And I can read in the dark with warm lighting without waking up my boyfriend!! It’s so wonderful. I love the ability to make the font suuuuper tiny too hehe.

Simple, clear and fun
This is a eReader not a tablet. As such I really enjoy reading books on it. I can easily attach it to my computer and transfer books epub, CBR (if ya want Manga, which I have tried and it looks great). I also borrow books from my local library via Overdrive/Libby and they sync over wifi onto the Kobo. I've had a few Kobos through the years, even before Rakuten bought them. I love the versatility of file support. I've even used it for music jams where I create epubs of lyrics for singers and it scales so well on the screen. Also love that on my smartphone I can sync articles to the Kobo via Pocket and I read them later... nice! I love that this model is water resistant (one less thing to worry about in my bag) and the warm light is clutch for night reading. The resolution is great, and the highest I've ever had in an ereader. I purchased the Kobo case (in orange) and appreciate the kickstand built in and use it at work on a table while eating lunch. Nice design, simple and effective. Grabbed the Kobo Clara BW on sale for about $20 less. While I love ereaders I think they should all be no more than $100. But innovation takes time to be adopted and folks pay the way.

Unable to Connect to Multiple Library Accounts.
I bought a Kobo Clara BW based on the Wirecutter e-reader review. The reader appears to have one fatal flaw - the inability to connect to multiple library accounts. I live in upstate NY and my local library is the Upper Hudson Library System (UHLS). It is a moderately large library system but by no means gets everything. Fortunately, as a New York resident I can also get library cards from neighboring systems and, most importantly, the New York and Queens public libraries. All of these libraries are connected to my Libby and Overdrive accounts. The polite thing to do is to check out an ebook from UHLS if it is in their collection and to go to one of the other libraries if it is not (easily done through deep search). In Libby I get notices whenever the book is available. This works fine with reading on a kindle. It does not work with the Clara BW because Kobo has set it up to connect only to a single library. There are discussions of convoluted workarounds, mostly by connecting to your Overdrive account rather than a library account, but Kobo appears to have disabled that option. I was unable to get the reader to connect to more than one library account or to continue to have access to downloaded books from one library after I then tried to connect to another. Without being able to connect the Kobo to multiple libraries it is essentially useless to anyone that doesn't have a very large library system. I tried providing feedback to Kobo but they do not provide a feedback option on their website.

Maravilloso
