So glad I bought this - a terrific read.
Chilling from start to finish. If moving to a house in what seems like the middle of nowhere for Annie isn't enough, it seems like the house has secrets......and unfortunately they'll prove to be something other than friendly or normal.I couldn't put this book down and the ending really blew me away........ After recovering from two broken legs Annie and her family have moved into a home in the country, away from everything and seemingly everyone, and because of her cast she is relegated to her bedroom upstairs. This is just the beginning of a nightmare adventure for the family as things happen, people change and we learn the story of what went on in this home. I like how the story goes back and forth between past and present, so it feels like you're living both sides at the same time. Delightfully creepy !

Ghostly Thriller
Annies Room is a ghostly thriller which explores the lives of two different girls named Annie, 71 years apart. The book flips between the lives of the two Annies from chapter to chapter. I found this was a really good way of linking the stories together whilst keeping them in their own eras. A lot of this story is quite predictable, but it's still a good read and despite the fact you know what is likely to happen it's still very gripping in places. There is a twist at the end which personally I guessed before I got to it, but that's not to say everybody will. Again at this point the fact you'd already guessed it doesn't detract from the story at all because you're waiting for it to happen so you create your own suspense.I find that many of Amy's books seem very much like screen plays in that you don't get that much description. I can see how a lot of her work would be fantastic as a visual and it does read like that's how it's intended. I can only imagine how frightening Amy's work could be if it had the description and suspense written in. It would make the book much longer so could be seen as padding I suppose, but I do think it would add to many of her works. My only gripe really with this book is the amount of errors, the book was free when I got it so I suppose I can't moan too much but it does bring me out of the story when I notice words that are wrong.I would recommend this for a nice easy to read ghost story, but be aware that there is domestic violence in it so if you're easily upset by that then it might not be for you.

Two Annie's......Two Stories.....
I am a huge fan of Amy's and I always look forward to reading her books. I got this as a freebie but I would gladly have paid for it.From the first page I was hooked. the plot is simple a girl called Annie moves into a new house with her parents. Annie is currently bedridden after breaking both her legs in an accident. She is disturbed to discover that another girl also called Annie lived in their in house seventy years ago and that Annie Garret was murdered by her parents. Even more disturbing to Annie is the fact that not only did they share the same house and name but she is also in Annie Garret's old room. The chapters flow nicely and take it in turns to go from past to present so we learn about the two Annie's. There were a few gruesome scenes which had me flinching a little so this book is probably not for the faint hearted. Overall a good book with great characters, a gripping plot and some nice twists and turns which kept me guessing. Well worth a read.

A mysterious, haunting read
Annie's room was a fast paced read, each chapter alternating between present day Annie and Annie from seventy one years ago. From the first page I knew I was going to like this and I did! The story is based basically on good Annie and evil Annie and which one wins if any. Present day Annie is stuck in her bedroom all day from breaking both her legs in an accident do is the first to see the presence of what she presumes is the previous Annie, but there is a good twist in this story which I won't spoil for anyone. I did feel at times the descriptions could have been written about more in depth that would have added to the scare factor and the ending could have been more revealing with the likes of her father but other than that this was a good read and especially as I got it free. ... many Amy Cross books I have read and thoroughly enjoyed. She has a way of just drawing me ...
This is just one of the many Amy Cross books I have read and thoroughly enjoyed. She has a way of just drawing me in from the first page to the last, with many unexpected twists and turns along the way. Even if I don't fancy the content when I read what the book is about, I end up loving it after the first few pages and can't put any of them down. Each book is very different, unlike many authors who go for the same thing in a different format. I hope to read all her books eventually as I can't see me getting tired of them!

Needs more meat
The book was a very easy read and there is actually a basis to a good story here. I'm not going to give the story line away, just suffice it to say, it doesn't take long to read and it does keep you interested. The downfall is that it came to an end far too quickly, no sooner are you being introduced to the family (they were only in their new home for 5 days) than bang, that's the end of it. We hardly got to know any of the characters, and I felt there was no meat to it. I did like the way it kept flipping backwards and forwards between periods, just would have like to have seen it packed out a little more

A chilling, spine tingling account of a perpetual haunting.
Amy Cross has done it again ! This book is so scary and written so well that even I, an ardent fan of spooky tales could actually feel the dreadful fear that engulfed poor Annie as the tension and horror of her situation built up around her.A powerful late night read with a gripping and unexpected twist at the end which will leave you uneasy and thoughtful long after you have turned out the light !

Quick and enoyable read!
An enjoyable read from start to finish...it must have been I finished it in 2 days! I was pretty gripped from the first page which I don't usually find with this genre of book. I've read a couple of Amy Cross' books and this was certainly the better one so far - I certainly didn't expect the ending! I wouldn't go out of my way to read any more by this author unless they were free to download. I agree with another reviewer's comment re the lack of detail in her style of writing and I think this does impact how much you get out of her books; it could have been a real chiller and atmospheric book if a little more detail was included.
