Schaum's Outline of Laplace Transforms

A brilliant presentation of one of the most important mathematical tools in engineering, ideal for undergraduate engineering students.

I use this book for revision in my Applied Maths module. I like it because of the amount of questions and worked examples it has. I don't think I'd have done as well in my exams if it weren't for this book. I'll make sure to check out the rest of the series too.

Pretty dense .. intro is too truncated which is a pity. Examples are not elaborated on enough...but along with a few other books and lecture notes it is kind of useful...for a low price.Not really for the beginner which is a pity. With a little more effort it could have been really great.Perhaps if the authors sit down with a few dozen beginners (one at a time) and see what is needed then a new BIG first chapter added... you could have a winner.Most math bods tend to just talk to other math bods and their students are treated as nodding chimps.I suspect that the same methodology was applied here.Unless you just want a few easy and a bunch of really pretty difficult examples to work throughand YOU KNOW WHAT LAPLACE IS... then steer clear it won't help much...probably crush your confidence as well as short circuit your brain.This level of maths is a challenge however it is packaged.

I used this book to refresh my knowledge of Laplace transforms. I had used them as an engineer some 40 years ago when designing servo systems. I no longer had any books on the technique. I was wanting to re visit the technique out of curiosity and nostalgia. This book enabled me to do that. It is not a definitive book, but helps you to get some idea of the process.

Use Arfken or Hassani, this Schaum lacks substance. Fourier Schaum is excellent however!
