Tolani's Hair

I absolutely loved this children's book! It accurately depicts the struggle natural girls have growing up with natural hair. I remember never wanting to wear my natural crown due to what I saw in the media and at school. Now that the natural hair community is growing at such a rapid rate, it's nice to incorporate our children in this journey. They also have to learn to accept their beautiful locks, as well.I highly recommend this book to children with natural hair and their parents. Even if you haven't learned to embrace your mane just yet, it's never too late to try.

This is a 5 star rating without hesitation. What a way to build self-esteem in young ladies. I have very thick hair and was told that it was too nappy growing up. I would have perms in my hair or wear wigs. Recently I started wearing my own natural hair. It is so soft after I comb it out with waves. I love it. The author is an excellent writer.

I Loved this book, it gives you a outlook on natural hair. Tolani was proud of her hair once her mother explained how the natural hair is her crown. Every little girl should read this book. Loved the cover and the pictures and colors. Exciting and harmonies.

This will definitely be a book that I keep and read to my future children. The author brings awareness to the beauty of the natural crown to a young black girl. If you have a child you should definitely get this book, regardless of gender. It will give your child an appreciation for the unrefined beauty of a black woman and ethnic diversity.

A cute story with a priceless message. Teaching self love should begin very early in a child's development. It is ideal to be unique and not the same as the masses. Good job

Looking for ways to increase your daughter's self-esteem or just looking for a great read? Tolani's Hair is the perfect book. The writer does an excellent job of encouraging self-love and encouraging dialogue, all in an age appropriate manner. The illustrations are well done also. Tolani's Hair is a MUST have in every girl's library. I look forward to the writer's next book!
