Pretty Good Project
We have built 2 of these and they seem to have a small design flaw. One of the LEDs lights out of order during the slowing spin (but lights in the correct order at full speed) other than that this is good project to practice soldering - does not include any circuit theory or teaching tools - just fun to put together - takes about 75 minutes to solder together.

As much fun after the build as the build it self
I had fun building this kit. I always enjoy soldering in the resisters and this kit has a pile of them. I usually do not enjoy soldering in the led's as much because I like then straight and that takes time. I learned a trick, solder only one lead at a time and solder all the led'd in then straighten them buy heating up the lead until the solder melts and holding it straight until it freeze again. after you get them all straight then solder the other side, using the wires as a guid to make sure they are straight, this is also a way to guarantee one last chance to check the polarity of the led. After the build I played with this for hours. I just like to hear and watch it. Until the house keeper stepped on it and flattened the transistor, some of the led's and one of the chips (and they did not even say anything).Anyway a great kit, one of my favorites. Just don't let anyone step on it.

fun kit, but arrived damaged & key component was missing
This is a fun kit, but it arrived damaged. Parts were strewn all over the box, and the opto-coupler was missing. We bought one from a different place.

Very cool!
Excellent kit but recommend only if you've soldered before. You will need a long and pointed conical (not chisel tip) solder iron tip. Smaller pads to solder to than other kits due to large quantity of LEDs. Be sure the LEDs are oriented properly AND don't leave the solder iron on the LED when soldering for more than 2 seconds. To operate, hold down the button and it will spin around fast, then just release the button and it will slow down randomly from every different point you release the button from, so it will stop on a different LED if you release the spin at a different time. It really does work like a roulette wheel.

I wouldn't have purchased if I knew it needed to be soddered.

Fun little kit
Keep in mind that this is a kit and requires tools to put together. It took me about an hour to put this together, and its quite a cool little kit. It makes a clicking sound (like a card on your bike wheel) and plays sound effects when you hit the different colors [Red, Yellow(Green in Roulette, Green (Black in Roulette)] This would be a good tool for someone learning statistics like independent trials etc.

LOTS of LED's to solder, but well worth the effort!
What a neat little DIY kit this one is! Aside from the sheer number of LED's and the number of solder joints you have to do just for those alone means you better have lots of tape to keep the LED's in place when you turn it over to do the soldering. But this item works perfectly. Highly recommended!!
