Is this product vegan (i.e. any animal-derived ingredients)? Also, is it tested on animals?

We don’t test on animals, nor do our manufacturing partners. At this stage we don’t have 100% certification of being cruelty free in every single ingredient in each of our product. But, we are working on the certification, and although it is a very lengthy and expensive process, it’s something that we have started.

does it have a dry look?

Yes it does have a dry look. Be careful how much product you use. A little goes a long way. My hair is short, no longer that 1.5 - 2.0 inch in length and shorter on the sides. I mix this product with equal amount of Volcanic Wax (Framesi) or similar product. Place product in palms then rub both palms and fingers together spreading the product over the palmar surfaces. There should not be so much product that you can see it on your hands or that may be too much and make hair look heavy. Running your hands through the hair you will notice that it does not exactly feel dry because of the product but it looks dry.

I am 74 and a woman with 2 1/2" short hair that is thinning. I used to use Jonathan's Dirt putty for many years, but couldn't find it lately. I've tried many substitutions and I like Fatboy Perfect Putty even better. It gives me great volume, is more emolent and holds for 2 days. Not a day goes by where people don't stop me in public and compliment me on my hair style. It is so easy to look put together with a quick bean sized amount of this rubbed together in your hands then rubbing it all through your hair for volume and a quick shaping with your fingers. Easy peasy. Wash and dry hair 1st & 20 seconds later you are done & it lasts all day. Fantastic product!
