Wishing Day

I really hate that Amazon offers books for 99cents that turn out to be one of a series. Yes, this is a young adult book, yes I'm not a young adult. But the book is a good read. I have questions about what happens next, but I am sure they would be answered in the next book. (For young readers this is really good at explaining / exploring relationships between the main character and those around her. Sisters, father, aunts, boys, neighborhood crazy.)

I bought this for my granddaughter's 9th birthday, which was August 12th. I just spoke with her today (8-20-16) to see how she likes the book and she said it's, "Amazing!!" She has 7 pages left. I'm looking for other books by the same author.

Great beginning
I love Fantasy, I love Urban Fantasy, I love YA and Middle Grade stories. I feel Lauren Myracle has told the story of Wishing Day quite well.My only problem with this story is the ending. It simply stopped in mid sentence. At first I was horrified (and a bit heartbroken) but then learned it was the first of a series (This was not explained at the end of the book). As a writer myself I know most people don't like a book in a series to end slam against a blank wall like this. I hope Ms Myracle has taken note of this from her other reviews. Her writing is excellent, but her transition left a lot to be desired.

Adorable
Completely adorable. Loved how the writer was able to make the main characters thoughts easily explained, at the same time of what the character was thinking and doing.

Awesome, although you might shed a tear here and there.
My 11 year old daughter loved this book so much. I could tell that she connected with Natasha. She told me that almost cried at some points in the book. The book is about a 13 year old girl named Natasha whose mother disappeared when Natasha was 5. Natasha has a 12 year old sister named Darya and a 12 year old sister named Ava. Her Aunt Vera and Elena start taking over as the "moms" since their mom has left. Natasha starts finding notes in her back yard telling her that she is special and beautiful. She hopes that those notes are from her crush Benton ( I am not going to tell you who the notes are from.) Now, I don't want to spoil anything but she ends up finding out that someone she wouldn't expect has a crush on her. A touching book and was definitely written from the heart. This book is definitely a part of a 2+ book series. My daughter can't wait until the second one comes out! I definitely recommend this book to children in 4th grade to 7th grade because some mild language and boy drama is included. Although, before letting your child read the book I would look through it to see if you think this book is for your child because of the reasons listed above.

Cute Idea. Good thing it's a series!
I gave this book 3 stars for the cute wishing idea. However, I am currently reaching the end and find that the book lacks sustenance but then, I am spoiled by stories written by Carson McCullers. Maybe I'll feel better about this book once I finish the series.
